Did Kotelnik rock Khan at all in their fight?

I think I might have found an answer to my question after some research:

23.24 Khan starts with two left hooks to the body again, the ref tells him to keep his punches up. A right hand from Kotelnik lands flush and has an effect on Khan, to his credit, Khan comes back well and lands some sharp punches himself. Khan lands a nice three punch combination towards the end of the round. Despite Kotelnik landing a big punch earlier in the round, he didn't do enough after that and allowed himself to get outworked by Khan. 49-46 Khan.

23.52Kotelnik lands a big right at the start of the round, Khan's got to be very careful here. Kotelnik is really pouring the pressure on. A huge right whistles past Khan's chin as Khan pulled back from a punch with his hands down. Khan's trading instead of moving but is still holding his own. 10 seconds to go, the bell rings. Khan's definately become world champion. I gave the last round to Kotelnik but Khan takes the fight 116-112 on my card.

I've got a feeling the judges scorecards will be a touch wider than mine. The rounds I scored for Kotelnik were very close rounds.

I'm going to watch that round right now to see for myself. Depending on how Khan looks after taking the punch, I'll know if it rocked him or not. Of course Kotelnik isn't a big puncher at all, so if it even slightly stumbles him then I'll come to a conclusion that his chin still isn't quite that good.

I never got to watch this fight. Khan's chin was clearly plastic during his lightweight days but I'm very curious to see if the move up in weight helped him at all. Dmitry Salita got his ass kicked and I doubt he landed any good punches so I can't measure based on that fight, but Kotelnik on the other hand went 12 full rounds with Khan and and was the only other JWW he fought. Did Kotelnik get to land anything meaningful in the fight, and if so did it stun Khan or push him back a little further than usual, like what Barrera's punches did or even what Prescott's baby jabs did before the deadly punch?

i mean he was rocked by a right hand from a shot barrera at LW but one fight later takes some flush shots from a solid LWW

No he wasn't and to be fair to him he took as good as a right hand as kotelnik could throw right at the start of the 12th round, khan got caught stationary for one of the only times in the fight and kotelnik landed right on the money.

I think the weight making was effecting him badly at 135 combined by poor strength in his legs, and weak sparring. Since roach they have concentrated on his leg strength and I think the move up has definitely helped, also I know from boxing experience myself that tough sparring definitely helps your punch resistance, I remember sparring for the first time with a kid that could really **** and everytime he hit me it was effecting my vision and legs, but the more time I spent with him, I started becoming more conditioned for taking the shots and the adverse effects were not as bad.

I hear khan was spoon fed, and had soft sparring when he was with oliver harrison, he was in there with fighters who couldn't even lay a glove on him, so how could he be conditioned to take shots when the fight came around? Different story at the wild card. but its hard to say how much it has improved him until he fights a decent puncher with speed. Lets be real here he isn't ever gonna be erik morales is he? My feeling is that he may just have enough in the whiskers and improved defense to compete with alexander and bradley...but thats just speculation only time will tell

No he didn't, but as pitty said, he was clearly gassing toward the end of the fight

No he wasnt hurt at all despite Kotelnik landing cleanly. Amir was gassed out in the 12th round because he had thrown more then 1.000 punches in that fight and was moving constantly.

There was a right hand in round 11, i think, that had Khan thinking. Nothing big but he certainly felt it.

What I found notable was that Khan resorted to arm punching not too late on, which makes me think that if anyone can get him towarsd the later stages of a fight, they can pick up the last rounds quite easily.
