that was a dumb article or post. The man was retired for 2 years and retired with the real WW belt. He acts like Floyd never had one. He had a real belt and was the Ring Champ but retired and since has only had 1 fight. Now he's fighting the #1 ring Champ but he just dont want the belt. I was saying years ago that once you reach a certain level then the belts dont mean anything. Belts are for guys like Berto. Floyd, Pac, and shane are bigger than the belts.

Also, we got to hear that dumb stuff about Floyd not carrying PPV's again. Sure Oscar has always been the man but he set the record with Floyd. Hatton carried the PPV? Who the **** in the US knew Hatton? No ****in one. Floyd carried that ****. Then he fights JMM who never had any good PPV's and everyone called it a joke fight but still got over a million buys while Pac couldnt even get close in a fight that everyone said was a big fight against Clottey.

People are hating too hard now

The thing the manny fans don't get is once manny made it big, after beating ODH Bob has made sure he's made sure to fight brawlers who don't move (hatton), punching bags (clottey, and weight drained boxers (cotto at 145).

Manny has fought guys who will make him look good. Why? SO BOB COULD BUILD HIM UP TO FIGHT OSCAR AND FLOYD FOR $40 MIL. Its called good business not ducking.

Lets see, fight eric morales again (after he lost) on ppv for 7 figures or fight on HBO after dark against zahir raheem (who beat morales)? I don't know. i'M PICKING ZAHIR.

so what you 2 dudes are saying, is forget the fact he wants to fight the top 2 guys at 147, in pacquiao and mosley, he doesn't want the belt b/c he's afraid of guys like joshua clottey and luis collazo?

          LOL!

Didn't mean anything or insinuating anything negative towards Floyd, I said it how i saw it.

How about you, how do you see it?

It's actually a BRILLIANT MOVE by Floyd, If he's down for the money but not titles and championships I'm cool with that, but if it becomes a trend, boxing will never be the same.

So NO OPPORTUNITY for the young upstarts to beat the best? Just like as majority of boxers from yesteryears who paved the way for the sport for fighters of today like Floyd?

Forget biased thinking for a moment and try to look at the bigger picture sometimes.

Keep the hype going boyz. Most boxing fans don't really care about those alphabet belts. We just want to see good fights or great fights. We should just applaud Floyd for taking this high risk fight. It would be nice to see Floyd against Manny eventually. Floyd's words and actions bring the worst out of Floyd haters and casual boxing fans. I can't blame them. These people will still be watching though.

beating shane, then manny pacquiao, does much more for his legacy, AND makes him more money, than beating guys like collazo and clottey.

seriously, how much longer do you see floyd sticking around? IMO, he beats shane, then manny, then retires for good.

he now needs shane's belt to do that?

There's basically no legacy or money involved in fighting an unknown contender. Its not exclusive to to just Mayweather. Many people vacate their titles so they won't be held to obligations. Zaveck and Wlad come to mind as fighters who are feasting on their mandatories.

I don't blame that on any one fighter. The system needs to be overhauled so that little guys can get a shot at fame as well.

you've not understood the issue. why should boxers pay these pathetic sanctioning bodies 3% of the gate when they are so corrupt? a world title wouldnt add a thing to this bout. if all the world champions said "screw you!" to the sanctioning bodies, boxing wouldnt be in such a mess right now. that **** like sulaiman is tryin to pull with devon alexander wouldnt have happened the other day that's for sure.

why do mayweather and pacman fans have to turn every single little thing that happens against the opposing fighter? it's seriously pathetic, and if you stopped to think for a minute, the stance that floyd is taking here is potentially a great step for boxing if others follow suit. just like the drug testing if we're being impartial...

Floyd can still fight younger guys but it won't be for thr belts. IMO, this is more about power and money. HBO and Ring have a vested interest in reducing the value of having a belt. I think floyd's comments about the belts are in line with HBO and Ring magazine trying to make belts less important. I believe the winner will be rated #1 at ww in ring. And the winner vs. manny will be for the ring belt too (I mean does anyone care about the WBO and IBC titles).

Many champs are relinquishing their belts ao they can take more lucrative fights with a better opponent. Honestly, if any combination of floyd, manny, ssm, paul williams, tim bradley or sergio martinez fight each other, no one cares if a belt is on the line.
