Disagree, Marquez is still a force at 135lb's.
Juan Manuel Marquez should hang 'em up

He should make a unification with Humberto Soto his final fight. That would be huge in Mexico, and I'd want to see it.
Of course Anthony Peterson might ruin that possibility.

I still think he could beat Khan. He's not the same level of athlete as Khan - he never was - but he could still outfox him. It's a close, close fight, though. So no, I don't think he should retire. There's still a future for him in the sport.Comment

I hate when people who aren't boxers demand that legends like Marquez retire.
If Marquez was completely shot and embarrassing himself, I would agree but at 135lbs, he's still a force to be reckoned with.
Marquez has the right to do what he wants and nothing will tarnish his legacy, he IS an ATG.Comment

What exactly do you determine as "no money". To a boxer from mexico who is near retirement "no money" is a lot of money. JMM has spent his whole life/career to get to the position he holds. JMM is numero uno and you dont give that up for nothing. He may have passed his prime but only just, the last 3 years have been his best. He is still a great boxer with a lot to offer on a world class stage. This is why i do not think anyone has the right to even mention he should retire. Like i said he owns 135, he's a living legend.Comment

Valero gave up the WBC belt last February. The WBC belt is now with Humberto Soto. As of now, its only the IBF that is vacant. To fight Soto is not worth it for Marquez other than trying to gain the WBC belt, materially. Outside of that, there is nothing to prove with Katsidis and the rest of the 135 division. The good ones like Khan, have moved up to 140. Should JMM move up as well? At 140lbs, he will find himself at times to be a small fighter already at 140.Comment
