Maybe so, But up to the 9th no one was winning rounds big. I thought Sergio won the first three or four but he was not blowing Pavlik out in those rounds. And I thought Pavlik won rounds 3 to 8 or 4 to 8. But Pavlik was not dominating him either. Rounds 9 to 12 I don't think were planed the way they turned out. I don't think Sergio knew that Pavlik would have blood gushing in his eyes to win the last 4 rounds easy.

the HBO crew kept bragging about Martinez' stamina, so if Sergio can keep up his workrate throughout all 12 rounds, Pavlik may not have made the distance.

i smell BS too to be honest.

i dont think he gave away rounds on purpose, but he did pace himself in the middle rounds.
he alluded to exactly that during the post fight interview.
he gassed in the williams fight under all that pressure, him avoiding that again was part of the game plan.

why not he siad the same thing against paul only difference was paul was not fighting discourage and was not slowing down. after 8 or 9 he started throwing three punch combination that cut pav and it was no turning back. now since he let world know he was doing that lets see what pav can do about it next time.

Right Sergio, and you cut him exactly when you wanted to, in order to turn the heat up again.

He does seem to tire in the mid rounds and then get a second wind. Who knows? It's not like he's making an excuse for a loss though, so why lie?
