Actually he doesn't have a lot of talent. What he has is a famous father who was one of the all time greats in the history of boxing.
I feel bad for Jr. He's living under his father's shadow and will never get out of it. He has good fundamentals but he's nothing special as far as talent. I can say he's been taught well and his father has showed him the ropes but I don't see Jr. becoming anything more than a decent mid level fighter.
I'm not hating on Jr. just calling it like it is. Roach will help but this kid doesn't have the hunger his father had, he didn't grow up on the rough streets of Mexico the way his father did. He was born rich and famous without having one fight under his belt, his father on the other hand had to work for everything he had.Comment

good move..i think this will be his only fight with roach though, for the same reason rigoundeaoux left. too many fighters at wild card, and roach cant give jr the attention he might think he requires.
jr shoulda kept it mex. nacho woulda been perfect because he takes fighters back to basics. he adds power and ability to roll punches of the basic finito lopez stance that most of the beristein fighters show now.
he definitely improved travieso and mickey roman.
some good sparring at wild card tho with jr, vanes, amenaza garcia, mcewan all around the same weightComment

I'm not gonna say he's great because he's not at all, but he has beat all the Matt Vandas of the world so he isn' that bad either. I always thought he needed a trainer that would'nt just have him fight like his dad and Freddie is gonna show him the proper way to use his natural hight and reach.Comment

I don't think Freddie Roach can help Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Chavez Jr sucks. I'll smash his head in. That's easy workComment

Agreed. Chavez maybe improved with Roach, but he'll never be 1/4 of the man and fighter his father was, he sees it as a good means to earn some $$$ that he can live off for the rest of his life and figures that maybe some polishing of his skills wouldnt hurtI'm not hating on Jr. just calling it like it is. Roach will help but this kid doesn't have the hunger his father had, he didn't grow up on the rough streets of Mexico the way his father did. Very true, methinks tho that once Vanes OR McEwan step into to spar with him, reality will hit that kid and he's gonna have to realize whether he wants to be getting better. I might go check em out someday.Comment
