Sergio Martinez is going though the grinder.

Nearly a murders row of dudes who mean business, at the tail end of his career no less. Man is 35 and taking on Cintron, Williams, Pavlik x2, and if he beats him a second time, Williams again in succession. Hot ****. Talk about being forged by fire.

Not to mention, if he remains at 154 with his strap, his futre defenses include Angulo/julio winner, Foreman/Cotto winner, margarito rematch, williams rematch, cintron rematch, kirkland, or up and comer omar henry.

What a ****ty time to get old.

And what's great about it is that, that is just how he wants it.

I just watched the Martinez-Pavlik post-fight press conference and he talks about how much he would love rematches vs. Pavlik, Williams, Margarito, and Cintron.

He needs to rematch Pavlik so that he can convincingly beat him. I had Pavlik up by two points until the massive cut was opened. Pavlik had started to figure Sergio out and connect very well with his jab.

If he gets through Pavlik and Williams unbeaten, that would be quite an accomplishment, and it be a great thing to see Floyd vs Martinez. Floyd's a great fighter, my favorite active fighter, but he's more of a businessman than a boxer now.

Yeah it would, especially considering the size of both men, being bigger then normal for their weight divisions. It could propel Martinez to a very high ranking on future P4P charts.

But If Williams can fix up his defense to avoid the counter left hook that Martinez was landing at will in their fight, he could probably stop him.

unfortunately for your opinion, it is general opinion that he did beat him convincingly.

After the cut was opened yes he did. And I know it was caused by a punch therefore completely legitimate.

Unfortunately for you, the fact of the matter is, the fight was either at a draw or how Howard Lederman had it 1 point ahead for Pavlik until the cut was opened. Before the cut was opened, the only convincing thing was that Pavlik adapted to blocking the left hook and establishing a strong job, and adapted to the point where he knocked Martinez down.

This was not a fight that "could have gone" either way. It just wasn't that type of fight. Pavlik had success in the midrounds, but Martinez adjusted to Pavlik's adjustments. Simple as that.
