martinez just stepped it up. he might've looked a little better those last few rounds without the cut, but maravilla still would've been all over kelly with those combos. rarely do you see someone above ww letting go that fast. it's rare at any weight to see someone as quick as martinez.

well, i wouldn't count pavlik completely out in a rematch. i still think he wouldn't be able to handle martinez even without the cuts. he was just dumping punches those last few rounds. i think it was the 9th when he outlanded kelly 7 to 1 in power shots.Comment

To be honest, the cut man did not help, but IMO Pavlik would've lost anyway. The fight was dead even IMO going into the ninth, but Martinez had another gear and Pavlik wasn't prepared. Martinez could've gotten a 10-8 round in the 9th, that's how bad he was beating Kelly.Comment

i think the cutman did pretty good ,it was pavlik that keeped getting poped with jabs all night.if anything he should think about a better trainer.sharpen up his defense.Comment

FINALLY... THE PAVLIK EXCUSES THAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR.
This is why I detest Team Pavlik. Take the loss. STFU.
Sergio Martinez got robbed blind in one fight...and had a legitimate argument for a bad decision in another. How many times did you hear Maravilla whine and *****?
Sergio is class. Pavlik is trash.Comment

His manager should be saying that **** though it was a nasty cut, Pavlik got hit a lot but the guy appeared lost. It is tough to say if Pavlik could have won if the cut was maintained or even if it was possible but I think it could have been handled better.
I am of the opinion that Pavlik does need some better help in fight, and a very good cutman would be a wise place to start.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 04-19-2010, 05:29 PM.Comment
