exactly. if the IBF is gonna make them weigh in again it should be just before the fight. or else **** off. they just do this to avoid lawsuits if one is 20 pounds heavier and kills the other. Then they get to go "It's not OUR fault, we held TWO weigh-ins".

i'm sure promoters don't care and won't make a big deal out of it...they just publish the weights and get to be in the news again the morning of the fight.

Well, that takes away the whole point of weight divisions. You know? That thing in which one guy who is much bigger and weighs much more can't fight a little guy?

If they are going to do this crap, they should just go back to day of weigh ins. If the IBF are going to play this game, why not just have early morning weigh ins? Never happen though.

Anyway, I can understand it. As someone mentioned, whoever saw Gatti flatten Gamache after packing on 20/25 pounds while Gamache was still only about five above saw what a devastating difference it can make in many fights. That was actually really horrible to watch and shouldn't have been allowed, so I applaud someone for trying to do something about it, whether it is the wrong way of doing it or not. What about Pac, a supposed 'small' being a WW in most of his FW and SFW fights? That ****e is just wrong and shouldn't be allowed.

People think it's amazing he's gone up as far as he has. Back when you had to weigh in on the day of, he never would have been able to do what he has. What is amazing is his dehydration and rehydration ability. If you had him coming in at the same weight you weighed in as he would missed all those weights from 118/122 up to about 140.

Someone coming in for a WW fight at 160+ is not a good sign for both the opponent and the boxer himself. What most people don't actually understand is that when a fighter puts on piles of weight afterward, it means they should not be fighting at that weight because they are dehydrating too much. It makes them worse at the weight, though some fighters it obviously gives them such an advantage as to be a real advantage.

Take Clottey for instance. He should have been fighting at 154 for a long time now. His body has been telling him that, but he has been getting the big fights at WW and you can see he doesn't handle it well. Early in his career he was ablr to fight a full twelve rounds and was known for having solid stamina and throwing punches. The last few years he has become known for the opposite because he kills himself, then piles on water weight and comes in flat and sluggish and gasses after eight rounds. It's a major problem that few know about and less want to look at or consider.
