Great fight! I can't wait for this one. This will really show whether Hasegawa is the new guy to beat. He already upset the great BW Sahaprom after his decade long dominance at BW, and this will also tell us where Montiel is at the moment. Can he still beat the best young guys out there?
Is Hasegawa even the best young guy out there at the moment? He's still got some questions over his head for me and this fight will answer everything. Not only that but both guys will team up for a great fight in general.
I really can't decide. Montiel has a definite chance to win but if Hasegawa is capable of what we think he is, and fights to his full ability, I see him taking it and being the next big guy to beat there. I hope Hasegawa comes in fully prepared because it's going to be a hard, hard fight for both.
What makes you say no one can beat him at 118? Hasegawa is a very good fighter no doubt and while hes faced decent competition, he hasn't faced an elite bantamweight since Sahaprom. Bantamweight is a an underrated division and there several fighters who give him tough fights and could possible beat him.
Even Sahaprom was far from his best days by then at 37 years old. Still, it was a great and very close fight which is why I still think there are some unanswered questions about him. Obviously the rematch was different but Sahaprom finally looked really done by then. He couldn't move, had lost his speed and that great head movement and combination punching he used to show. He has the tools but can he use them all against a great fighter that is still at his best? We'll find out in this fight.
I agree very much that BW right now is without doubt one of the top divisions out there. Most people focus on 147, but I think compared to some other divisions, 147 is comparatively weak now. 140 is much better than 147 right now too. If Donaire moves up, as well as Vic, that's one hell of a stacked division. Montiel, Hasegawa, Doniare, Darchinyan alone is enough to make your mouth water.
