it's called matchmaking. you don't throw you prospect at an unknown quantity like maidana. I'm not against giving ortiz a real challenge, but against a known quantity that you know he should be able to handle.

GBP matchmaking is the worst in boxing. they threw jmm in with floyd; they knew jmm had no chance. they made hopkins/rjj even though they knew that was a ****ty fight. they took their most marketable boxer (dlh himself) weight drained him to get down to 147 lbs to get crushed by pac. these guys at GBP are total buffoons.

Oscar weighed in at about 145, and I recall that he said he'd been down to 143.5 lbs. So he was in pretty dry shape.

yep GBP matchmaking is horrendous. they were better off just fighting margarito at 154 instead of fighting pac at 147.
