Comments Thread For: CompuBox Analysis: Pavlik-Martinez, Bute-Miranda

By CompuBox - This attractive dual-site doubleheader showcases four distinctive styles and story lines. Bute, who many have deemed the world’s best super middleweight, tangles with a Colombian challenger who wants to change his recent bad fortunes in high-profile fights. Meanwhile Pavlik desires to regain a place in the pound-for-pound rankings while the slick and quick Martinez, a natural 154-pounder, again invades the middleweights in search of a monumental victory. Martinez has the style to decision Pavlik theoretically, BUT!!!

Martinez is a smaller man; unlike Williams Pavlik will not lean in while punching... Pavlik is rarely off-balanced and can be effective on any distance...

I like both Martinez and Pavlik but I see Martinez giving Pavlik trouble with his speed, movement, and southpaw stands. I think if Martinez can **** and school PWill he has a great chance of beating Pavlik by decision.

Bute is going to murder Miranda.

Martinez has to fight a perfect match to win. I doubt he can ko Pavlik.

I agree with the writer's prediction : late TKO win for Pavlik seems to be the best pick. Too much people are writing Pavlik off (for his long lay-off, schooling by B-Hop and supposedly ducking Paul Will when his hand was obviously not healed) and hyping Martinez up (even though he really is good).

From round 8 to the ko, it will be Pavlik's fight. Martinez will have run out of gaz by that time.

LOL at the "spaghetti strategy". If Miranda comes out swinging carelessly, it won't go 7 rounds.

Just one little correction, Miranda has a HUGE reach advantage, 77.5" to 70".

              Enjoyed the article.

So exactly when did Pavlik start throwing as many punches as Paul Williams? People seem to think this fight will be exactly the same as Williams-Martinez apart from the fact Pavlik is a harder puncher. Pavlik and Paul Williams fight nothing alike, Pavlik is slow and plodding and was outworked by a 45 year old Hopkins who Paul Williams would have at least made a fight competitive with just because he throws around 60% more punches than Pavlik. In my opinion Pavlik's only chance in this fight is to knock Martinez out.
