Corrales wants to face Hatton on the same card as Welshman Calzaghe's projected super middleweight unification with Jeff Lacy in November.

Gary Shaw, who promotes both Corrales and Lacy, says he is already in talks to hold the fight in Cardiff.

That proposal would see 60,000 fans packed into the Millennium Stadium.

Shaw was ringside with his fighters to see Hatton's sensational win over former IBF light welterweight king Kostya Tszyu on Sunday morning.

"Diego would love to come to Britain and make a super-fight with Ricky," Shaw said

I have been talking with (American pay-per-view network) Showtime today about making the fight on the same card as Calzaghe-Lacy in one of your biggest arenas.

"It is something that could really happen and it is the biggest fight out there at the moment.

"Diego never takes a backward step and neither does Ricky - it would be an incredible fight.

"He is the man Diego wants and he is willing to come to Britain to get him."

Corrales holds the WBC and WBO lightweight titles, having stopped Jose Luis Castillo last month in a war most ringsiders described as one of the greatest in boxing history.

Hatton's rival light welterweight champions - WBC holder Arturo Gatti, WBO title holder Miguel Cotto and WBA champion Vivian Harris - have already all expressed an interest in fighting the Mancunian next.

But the move by Corrales' camp throws another ****y option into the mix.

Manchester's MEN Arena saw 22,000 packed in to watch Hatton beat Tszyu.

The same venue had been mooted as a possible site for when WBO king Calzaghe faces Lacy - providing the IBF holder gets past Robin Reid in a title defence in Florida on 6 August.

But Cardiff was the other suggested place and the Millennium Stadium would be ideal to hold what would be one of the biggest ever boxing promotions on British soil.

poor tszyu has'nt fought a brawler in years.he showd it. and he couldn't keep up or neutralize hattons workrate always pushing forward with most of the time wild wide punches.corrales knows alot about that style.

corrales kept up with castillos workrate and brawling style. and power wise i think castillo is up there with hatton and is more exact with his punches. and chico will be bigger and stronger and have more power at higher weight. theyre talking about it being in brittian but i hope like hell it would be state side. staple center los angeles would be nice. california has a new straight boxing commissioner and you can bet the ref will be clean. corrales will have plenty of time to rest and get over the war by november.

He will not lose any power at all. Its only five ****in pounds. Corrales has been having a hard time makin 135 so how would he lose power. He is 5'11 & in between fights probably walks around at 150lbs+. "He goes down way too easy for a puncher like Hatton". PLEASE. Castillo was just as good a puncher as Hatton & has a better chin (never knocked down much less stopped). If there is a competent referee who deoesn't allow the grappling & dirty tactics (whether in England or not) Corrales will win. His punches are way crisper, he is more technically sound & just as tough. Corrales by KO in 7th if ref wants to see boxing not UFC.

ive read corrales walks around at 160. some people have wondered for years why he didn't move up. he's always said he's never had a problem making weight.

i think 5lbs does make a different. on his frame it can mean more power. less dehydration. i can see chico being 150 on fight night.

Yeah... I've got so much respect for this guy. Other P4P fighters like Bernard & Floyd keep fighting guys like Allen & Brusseles.

Corrales only wants BIG fights... And boy does he pick them!

Putting Mayweather next to Hopkins when it comes to lame opponents is wrong mate, i know Mayweathers fought some **** fighers recently but that only because of the move up weight(he was a very small guy for 140), in the past he's only fought the best, unlike that ***** Hopkins.

I admire chico's guts! If push though this will be another phone booth fight blockbuster but then again ricky won't be fighting outside home. When will he ever go to da states to fight?

If I remember correctly, I think it was Charles Barkley who blurted this to the referee.
