It says right there on the ring magazine cover it's from 1939 and that ceferino garcia is the master of the bolo punch.

Kid Gavilan did not start his professional career until 1943.

All jokes aside. But the Bolo Punch was introduced to the sport of boxing by the MASTER CUBAN KID GAVILAN.

nope...bolo punch was derived from a common tactic from filipino martial arts when wielding 2 bolos and either twirling 1 or tapping the 2 together to make noise to distract the opponent's rythm.

The bolo punch described on the wiki page. Is the punch that Sugar Ray Leonard use to do.

When the opponent concentrates on the hand that is circling, the bolo puncher will usually sneak in a punch with the opposite hand. We talking about two different punches.

no....technique is spot on as he described...but the full tactic involved the use of 2 weapons. that technique could not have been invented simply from the act of chopping down trees with 1 bolo.
