Thats why Martinez sucks donkey balls and his best win is over Kermit Cintron who Margarito already destroyed. Martinez admits he lost a close fight against Paul Williams.

So lets look at the resumes now:

    Calzaghe:

    Kessler
    Lacy
    Eubank
    Bika
    Veit
    Mitchell
    Reid
    Sheika
    Woodhall

    Martinez:
    Cintron

        Calzaghe

        Southpaw

        12 round stamina

        Faster hands

        High workrate

        Martinez

        Slick Southpaw

        Tires out after 6 rounds

        Better footwork

Does not throw a lot of punches

        Clumsy/Falls down like Dirrell does

        Gets hit more than Calzaghe
martinez only got tired in 1 fight.. and it was his first venture to 160 and he didn't have a full camp - not to mention his opponent threw a gazillion punches.

        Get real

Calzaghe and Martinez have no similarity. And by the way, Sergio is definitely not an ATG.

Even if Martinez beats Kelly Pavlik, he still is not better then Calzaghe atleast resume wise. He'd have to do a hell alot more then beat Kelly Pavlik to surpass Calzaghes resume in my personal opinion.

To the thread starter. I'm a Martinez fan which is why I'm scratching my head at you comparing Martinez to Calzaghe.

Calzaghe had as good a work-rate/stamina of any fighter you will ever see. He was also slick. Good movement, very fast hands and had a great chin.

The fact that he was so durable while throwing so many punches was why he couldn't be beaten. After his hands went it didn't matter because you still fancied him to win every bout on points.

When Martinez starts convincingly beating all the best fighters in his division when they are in their primes (Kessler & Lacy were undefeated, Eubank was still only in his early 30's, Sakio Bika etc) and then goes up to light-heavyweight to defeat P4P ranked #3 Bernard Hopkins...I think you'll have more of a case.

Martinez is a good fighter though!

lol at your list for Calzaghe. not a single great fighter there. and calzaghe lost to Reid.

you think a fight between p-will and Calzaghe would even be close? p-will would dissect Calzaghe to pieces.
