I hear about people trying to throw Berto's name in with the likes of Mosley, Mayweather, Cotto and Pacquiao, here's my opinion on this: To me Andre Berto is TOOO green still, very talented but not in the category of those big guys, yet, Quintana knocked him down in the 1st round even though the ref called it a slip and no it wasnt a rabbit punch, he hit him in the equilibrium (side of ear), to me he still needs atleast 2-3 more fights, Maybe Zab Judah (known name and a good test), then Clottey (he'll cage up because of Berto's speed, also a good test), a Collazo rematch (1st encounter was close), Paul Williams could be a very winnable fight, maybe Alfonso Gomez since he's been on a winning streak and a decent known name, but Mayweather will crush Berto and he wouldn't fight Berto anyways, Berto is not mainstream level, so will Mosley in my view and Pacquiao will definitely own him, and if Cotto returns to his sharp boxer-puncher style under Emanuel Stewart he will be a huge risk and a possible loss but is yet to be seen, we'll have to wait till June 5th, in my opinion I think if Cotto wins they'd probably match him up with Berto next, for Berto's WBC title, it would be interesting to watch...what do ya'll think???
My View On WBC Champ, ANDRE BERTO.

well said couldnt agree more. he is not ready for the elite. clottey, zab, collazo rematch. gomez, bradley cuz i heard he is having some problems making 140 and plans to move up in the future after a few more fights at 40. -
I agree, Im not saying he's a bad fighter, he's pretty good, but he still needs more strong opposition and hard fights that are winnable before he gets thrown to the wolves, Juan Urango was a good win, but Urango is extremely one dimensional, Collazo gave Berto a tough night, so now we know he has problems with fighters that move and use angles, a fight with Zab Judah would help in that aspect, and also would be fun to watch, since Judah has a huge mouth, he's also a former Undisputed Champion, Quintana was also a good win but his last significant fight was against P.Will almos 2 yrs ago, where he lost in the 1st round.Comment

why baby berto/ when a fighter is being babied you complain they aint fight noone when they ready to step up yall say they not ready few more fights. jermain taylor beat hopkins twice with less than 25 fights if it was up to u yall made him wait. tarver had liek 23 beating roy. he is the wbc champion hes not a prospect anymroe he has to fight. stop complaining he is a grown man a prizefighter and champion let him do what he does. ppl say oh he aint fight noone but yall dont want him to fight the best. cmon hes ready now as everComment

and where's Jermain Taylor now???? semi retired and suffered multiple concussions. Don't catch feelings, just state an opinion, no one's complaining about Berto, we all think he's talented as hell and well on his way, just not now. by fighting Judah, Clottey and a Collazo rematch it'll just give him more experience and more recognition, it can't hurt, it will only do him good. If you really think Berto is in the same category of Pac or Mayweather then WOW, is like saying a ****** inexperienced female teen gives better head than a slutt.Last edited by DeymarPR; 04-13-2010, 10:25 PM.Comment

Berto is a phenomenal athlete with not much of a boxing IQ, before the stoppage Quintana was right there with him in a very competitive fight when he has maybe 1/4 the natural ability Berto does.why baby berto/ when a fighter is being babied you complain they aint fight noone when they ready to step up yall say they not ready few more fights. jermain taylor beat hopkins twice with less than 25 fights if it was up to u yall made him wait. tarver had liek 23 beating roy. he is the wbc champion hes not a prospect anymroe he has to fight. stop complaining he is a grown man a prizefighter and champion let him do what he does. ppl say oh he aint fight noone but yall dont want him to fight the best. cmon hes ready now as ever
He is not ready and may never be because I have not seen much improvement at all.
Maybe he will wait around for a bit because Pac, Floyd, and Shane are on their way out, so he could become "the man" by default if 1 of the good 140lbers don't move up.Comment

well it sort of seemed you were kinda upset before, but hey if thats ur opinion than fine, to me i just think he needs atleast a couple more fights, by fighting Judah or Clottey wouldn't be babying him though, Judah is a former Undisputed Champion, it means something, and Clottey was a former World Champion and has never been ko'd, also not a cakewalk but it would interesting to watch how he copes with guys he would actually have to work hard against to win.Comment

but noon will know how he will do if he dont fight them. he is a champion and is willing to fight them. you telling me clotty deserve a shot mroe than berto against manny? u telling me clotty will do better than what berto would do. you think clotty is worth mroe than berto? or david diaz? berto is a ruff n tough fast stronger fighter. he has alot of heart. no he isnt as pretty fighting as his talents suggest he shuld be but he still get the job done. and i feel he would do at least better than clotty hatton oscar cotto and diaz did. he is young alive and hungry wbc undefeated champion. WHY NOT?Berto is a phenomenal athlete with not much of a boxing IQ, before the stoppage Quintana was right there with him in a very competitive fight when he has maybe 1/4 the natural ability Berto does.
