again, you cant say that. there was a civil rights moment then that boosted ali into the stratosphere not to mention a war.

a very different war for a much different cause.

you cant no conclude Ali would be any bigger than tiger, kobe etc. they would be equally as popular

I'm not saying he wasn't known world wide, however saying that he would be more popular than football stars, which has always been the more popular sport, is silly.

Come on, the media covers who they find interesting. There is no celebrity out there who is more interesting inside or outside the ring the Ali. Boxing would be in the mainstream if he was around today.

Ali was what Mayweather is trying to be...Ali was an all around entertainer a great personality with something special sprinkled into the mix given to him by GOD. You could have dropped Ali anywhere broke and naked and he'd come out wearing a chinchilla and with a ***** on each arm. The man was money true money with out all the foul mouthed flashyness...Lefty

You're an idiot, you really are.

Ali once stated, in relation to integration: "We who follow the teachings of Elijah Muhammad don't want to be forced to integrate. Integration is wrong. We don't want to live with the white man; that's all."
And in relation to inter-racial marriage: "No intelligent black man or black woman in his or her right black mind wants white boys and white girls coming to their homes to marry their black sons and daughters." Indeed, Ali's religious beliefs at the time included the notion that the white man was "the devil" and that white people were not "righteous." Ali claimed that white people hated black people.
And all the stuff he spouted about Frazier being an Uncle Tom.

A lot of things change in 40 years.
