ppl like to ignore this, claiming odlh was done. but he was still the bigger man and he was still at his natural weight class. floyd fought the #2 p4p coming of an epic layoff. it wasnt like he even manhandled jmm. he out pointed him using skill. but to each his own. it was a good win in my book.

how about not following the agreed weight...isn't that unfair to you?
floyd was fighting at welter and needed to just go up 1 weight division to fight oscar...hundreds of fighters have done that before. jmm was a lightweight and had to bypass jr welter to fight floyd.

the logic around manny being big enough and marquez being too small is easy really. manny had three fights successful fights above 140 and is arguably in his prime right now. marquez had no fights above 140 and was possibly out of his prime judging on his two fights before. they were close and competitive before the knockout.

regardless of mayweather not trying to make weight, he gets credit for the victory for me. he said himself it was a tune-up fight. now look who hes fighting. no one can complain about mosley as his next opponent besides the haters.
actually the ppv was called numero uno. i don't remember it being called tune up numero uno.

Marquez was showing move up from 130-135 that he lose alot of his speed and relied on his skills. Add addition 10 pounds on marquez along with floyd not bother going making weight and you got a slow marquez no matter how skill he was has 0 physical advantage. Really people tried to say floyd beat marquez with skills alone and fail to mention that Floyd speed and reach is what one that fight. Really the biggest problem for marquez is that he was too slow at 144 to effectively fight floyd. **** even people wont give pacquaio any credit if he fought marquez anything above 135. Pacquaio would actually stop marquez since marquez would lose way too much speed and reflex to counter pacquaio.
Cheat weight? Floyd came in under the WW limit against JMM. His match up with Oscar was at 154. On fight night, Floyd was around 149-150, and Oscar was 160+.

Floyd didn't employ his physical advantage. He didn't bully JMM, he outboxed em.

Last time Pac and JMM fought, JMM taxed that ass. If they fought today, nobody would question why they were fighting.

No, coming in under the WW limit in a WW fight isn't unfair to me. Especially when JMM didn't mind it too much. He still laced up the gloves and fought the match.

MW isn't Floyd natural, nor had he ever fought a match at 154 before that night. On that night, Oscar outweighed Floyd by 10+ pounds. Floyd outweighed JMM by 2 pounds....

I also don't recall people screaming it was unfair for Diego Corrales to fight Floyd, and if my memory is correct, Chico outweighed Floyd by 16 LBS on the night of their fight.

youre right it was called numero uno. . .

but mayweather himself said it was a tune-up fight. he knew it was an easy fight to win. it was titled "numero uno" to sell it to the casual fan.

Floyd beat JMM with skill and didn't really impose his size and power advantage much.

But JMM looked slow and bloated to me at that weight and his punches had no effect on Floyd whatsoever. WW is not the right weight for JMM.

he said it was a tune up after the fight took place. during the build up he pretended it was a really tough fight. he's such a hypocrite i can't believe 1 million idiots got fooled by his flashy marketing campaign.
