Of course Margarito only have himself to be blamed for losing the fight.

But he's chances of winning went from high to almost zero just a few moments before his fight with Shane because because of the plaster issue.

It was impossible for Margarito not to be affected by this, specially in the ring where you need a lot of concentration. Its even generous to say that Marg was fighting around 50% of his total ability as a boxer that night.


True that Margarito was half hearted came fight time, but he was the only on to be blamed.

I never rated his win over Margarito that high, because I always said that Margarito was overrated in the first place. He found someone who didn't fold under pressure and slow down after 6 rounds, which is pretty much what he counts on.

How much emotion came into play is speculatory.
