That dude is still a monster, he never quit in the Campbell fight, fought through a beating and terrible cuts and never looked to quit....ever.

His weakness is he is not a hard puncher, if he had KO power, he would be a world beater. He landed heavy shots on Malinaggi and JMM but doesn't have the power to put them away.

He's a pressure fighter with an excellent jab just wasn't blessed with power.

Much respect to Juan Diaz, he's a ***in warrior.
His weakness is that he fades when the tough gets going. He can't deal with having a cut on his eye.

I agree 100% with everything you said. Juan Diaz is a warrior! He's better than most people give him credit for.

Campbell ruined him, then Marquez finished him. And Malignaggi got the left overs of a naturally smaller man. Juan Diaz was doing pretty good against Campbell until his eye got cut, he didn't know how to deal with it.

He was a much better fighter before Campbell got to him, and before Sheilds took over.

Fair play to Campbell he beat Diaz, albeit he was a bit dirty in the fight, i think Diaz evaluated his style too much after that loss and changing too much took something away from him.

Malignaggi makes anyone look bad, he fought a very close fight in his first fight with Malignaggi but in the second fight he lost more clearly.

Like I said, power is the reason Diaz isn't elite.

Juan Diaz was never that good, period he did not and does not have the tools to be an elite fighter.

Diaz is a beast and he still fights the same way. He comes forward the whole time. The problem with that is when you fight someone like Marquez you are going to get caught coming forward. Eventually those counter punches will wear you down. Anyway I still think he has a shot to beat MArquez. Marquez legs do not look as stable when he moved up from 130

What really happened is Diaz beat a couple of guys (Freitas and Diaz) who just weren't as good as we thought. They made him look a little better than he really is. Even Kats pushed him harder than they did. Once he ran into some fighters who knew how to deal with his workrate it was discovered how weak of a puncher he really is. In a sense he was exposed as a good fighter and not a great one.

He was never a monster. Any one can look like an elite fighter when facing lesser opponents. He lost to Campbell because he stepped up in comp from Katsidis to a veteran fighter like Campbell. Diaz has arguably lost to all of his B class fighters. Campbell beat him, Marquez beat him, Malignaggi beat him twice and he's probably going to lose again vs Marquez in their rematch.

Diaz' best wins are an old Freitas who retired right after that fight hasn't fought ever since. An old Julio Diaz who has lost 3 of his last 5 fights. And his very best win was Katsidis.

I wouldn't ever call Juan Diaz a monster not even in his prime or now. He's 26 years old now, that's not exactly an age to lose your prime. At 26 you're at your best if you're good then 24-31 are the ages where you shine, you don't just get shot at 26 that's ridiculous then you were never that good to begin with.
