Rigondeaux will be a world champ in multiple divisions, as long as he has a competent trainer behind him. I would rather he had stayed with Roach, but it won't make that much difference that he's chosen Roger Mayweather. We're talking about an exceptional talent who doesn't need to be taught much, just pointed in the right direction. I'd love to know what caused the split with Freddie.
Now All Of A Sudden Rigondeaux Sucks Because He Split With Roach!!!

Well, I found my own answer. Here's an excerpt from an article by Dan Rafael at ESPN.com:
"His feeling is he's a two-time gold medal winner and he went all the way out there and felt there were too many fighters in the gym," DeCubas said of Roach's Wild Card gym in Hollywood, Calif. "Nobody was picking him up in the morning to run and he felt he should have been sparring with lighter guys, not 150-pounders. He wasn't getting enough attention from Freddie. He's very disappointed."
Roach, however, was unhappy with Rigondeaux's conditioning and didn't want him to fight Saturday, according to a source close to the trainer.
DeCubas said Rigondeaux is back in Miami, where he is based, looking for a trainer.

Sounds like he felt there wasn't enough attention paid to him as he wanted. The guy needs someone who can focus more time than what Roach has to offer since he's already 29. Roach also said something about his conditioning not being where it needed to be so who knows, maybe Rigondeaux took issue with that.Comment

I'm not going to say he could be trained by just anyone and still realize his potential. But any good trainer with experience coaching top-level boxers will keep Rigondeaux on track to becoming an elite fighter. The real key is if Rigo feels comfortable training with them. I don't think either Mayweather brother would be a terrible fit if Guillermo was cool with them.Comment

Already the *******s true nature shows. Last week because Rigondeax was with Freddie Roach he was the next best thing. Today it was announced he split with Roach and the *******s are saying "He's done", and "He'll never amount to anything", "He's to old" and "He betrayed is country and now he's betrayed Roach". Give me a break people. Boxing is a business. The guy has every right to make the move if he feels it's in his beat interest. He must have seen something there that he didn't like. It's nothing against Roach, but sometimes certain trainers don't mesh well with certain fighters. I find it funny how now all of a sudden *******s are writing off the guy like his career is over. This yet again proves their ignorance reaches new levels day by day.Comment

I could careless who he is trained by. He better stay away from Anselmo Moreno. But, IMO the better fit for Rigondeaux is Joe Goosen.Comment
