i agree that roach is spread too thin. i have no problem with him leaving roach, but a fighter is ultimately responsible for his own conditioning.

i also find it a bit concerning that a cuban fighter wanted to train away from miami to get away from the distractions....and now he wants to go back and be trained OUT of miami.

also, from a poster who already posted "inside information" about the situation:

rumors are rumors, but there's gotta be a reason why he was out of shape so close to a fight.

        i trust Eaner....god damn...so Rigondeaux is a lazy ass

The "inside information" Eaner0919 posted seems legit, especially in light of the news. But all I had to go on was the article, and all it implies about Rigondeaux's "laziness" is: "Roach, however, was unhappy with Rigondeaux's conditioning and didn't want him to fight Saturday, according to a source close to the trainer." Since the article also sites a "sore back" as the reason for the cancellation, one is left to believe what one chooses. Now, Rigo fought barely two months ago. I can't see him being that out of shape, unless he didn't set foot in the gym and ate ice cream the whole time. I doubt that happened.

Interesting thought. It's possible that's what happened. But it doesn't dispel the idea that Rigondeaux is either lazy or a prima donna. I've been running/training for years. I've run everywhere: streets, roads, paved, unpaved, middle-of-the-night, day, bad neighborhoods, good neighborhoods, whatever. If it didn't stop me, why should it stop him?

One thought just came to mind. I know for a fact that the training in Cuba, for all sports, is highly regimented. It's possible that Rigo is simply accustomed to being led by his coaches. An elite athlete is a creature of habit. This might be his problem.

I guess he missed His Cuban buddies. I'm sure Floyd Sr will enjoy his Stay in Miami, I heard there's better deal on ******* over there.
