Get him with a Mayweather or someone like Naazim Richardson this early in his career and he'll be real dangerous
Rigondeaux withdraws from bout!!!!

I'm not sure if that poster is correct about him being lazy. From what roach said is that when he sparred he would only go at 50-60%. I took it as he was so good he would go easy on his sparring partners.damn. i thought rigondeaux was different from most of the other cubans that defected.
sucks to hear that about the laziness and the lack of roadwork.
word is that roach wanted guillermo to pull out of the fight earlier becuz he wasnt happy with his conditioning.
supposedly, one of the reasons why he wanted to train out in LA was to get away from miami and all the distractions that could lead to. now he wants to train out of miami again??
dan birmingham isnt based out of miami, but he's in florida. he doesnt have too many fighters. i think he'd be a solid fit since he's a balanced trainer who communicates well.
i still think joe goossen is the BEST fit.
I don't think that equals laziness, unless there is more to it that I'm missing.Comment

apparently he was in such bad condition, that freddie wanted to pull him out of the fight earlier.I'm not sure if that poster is correct about him being lazy. i guess rigondeaux wants someone to hold his hand while doing roadwork.
thats not how it works.Comment

This is the first time I've heard any mention of Rigondeaux's "laziness." It seems that some people are inferring that from the quote in the article: "Nobody was picking him up in the morning to run..." I get more of a sense that Guillermo felt he deserved more attention than he was getting. He knows he's the goods and expects to be treated as such. I'm not saying this is so, but, if anything, "El Chacal" could be viewed as a prima donna. lolI'm not sure if that poster is correct about him being lazy. Hmm, I wouldn't go that far. If he feels he's not getting enough attention from his trainer, who is already spread thin, I think he has a legitimate reason to want to leave.Comment

how do you explain him being out of shape then? This is the first time I've heard any mention of Rigondeaux's "laziness." also, from a poster who already posted "inside information" about the situation:
rumors are rumors, but there's gotta be a reason why he was out of shape so close to a fight.actually Steve Kim called Freddie while at my house after I told him about the rumors that Rigondeaux had left Freddie
he said that Rigondeaux was so out of shape that he basically told them he shouldn't fight his next fight. The last time he saw him was about a week and a half ago and that he thinks they have split but Rigondeaux has said he is moving on
so thats the real storyComment

I understand why he left.
He's a grown man so he shouldn't need someone to push him, but at the same time, you can't blow him off like he's a normal prospect, but he's simply not the draw that Pacquiao, and Khan are now, so he's not going to be making Freddie the money those two areComment

I noticed that line too, but what I took that as meaning maybe he doesn't have a car or license yet and can't get out to where he needs to run at? I don't know I'm just thinking that he doesn't have any means of transportation. This is the first time I've heard any mention of Rigondeaux's "laziness."
