Mayweather-Mosley is expected to sell more than Clottey-pacquiao. So that shouldn't be the benchmark.

The real standard by which May/Moz should be measured is Cotto/pac.
Cotto is a bigger draw than Shane is. Cotto/pac had 4 months of promotion and a 24/7.

So, I believe the principals will be watching to see how May/Moz compares to Cotto/pac's 1.25 million PPV buys.

I know but Nat is talking about the attendance, Saying the intention of GBP was just to beat the 51,000 attendance that Pac/clottey did but i doubt that was the intention of GBP Maybe am wrong..

You guys do realize they sell $50 closed circuit at other big fights, but they never count those as live attandance.

the intention of gbp in announcing these numbers are plentiful.

talk about the fight some more in the media , talk about how big the fight is , talk about how many people want to see the fight and so on.

beating pac-clottey attendance is not a big part of this.

what is a big part is that when arlington campaigns for mosley/may-pac , jerry jones and arum will throw out the big 100k number.

they'll try to sell the fact that 100k people can come see the fight at cowboys stadium.

gbp/mgm grand will counter with building a temporary arena that can handle maybe 30k-40k on the strip and they'll throw out close circuit numbers.

that'll be the case they'll try to make (plus the fact that they can sell those tickets at higher prices in vegas)

There are people who feel that Arum shouldn't have counted the 'party passes' into the live gate attendance figures because those few thousand people didn't have a seat, and watched the fight on the big screen.

They said similar things when Jerry sold party passes for the Cowboys game that exceeded 100,000 and set the attendance record.

I wasn't in the arena, so i don't know how the configuration works.

those party passes were only about 5,000.

                not a big deal.

They're also factoring concessions, merchandise, parking which directly correlates into the revenue stream generated by going into that one stadium so it's legit. Party passes are ripped off from Kentucky Derby and any Nascar event.

However, you can't have a closed circuit @ Mandalay Bay while the fight is showing at MGM, for example and count those as tickets. Even if they build 30k closed circuit on site @ MGM, you can't count those as tickets.
