The whole point of this thread is that mosley was made to look better than he really is by the worst version of antonio margarito. Imo, margarito was suffering ill effects of the cotto fight along with the mental instability of having been caught with plaster before the fight contributed to a totally shot fighter physically & mentally.

Margarito in that fight was slow, lethargic, he was literally dragging his whole body throughout the fight, his volume punching was totally gone, yet it took shane 9 rounds to dispose of the guy.

Come fight night, shane will be 4 months shy of his 39th birthday & will be out of the ring for exactly 1 year & 6 months. Yet people think this fight is gonna be great?

I will be rooting for shane but basically he basically has nothing but a punchers chance.
yes and hes still the same fighter that destroyed margarito and gave a great fight with an undefeated cotto.

I do know this Shane IMO is the best fighter and the best WW that Floyd has ever fought. So credit to Floyd if he wins. He is finally fighting a true elite WW IMO.
i agree shane is a better fighter at 147 when he fought oscar & won vs collazo & was competitive vs cotto.

But how long ago was that? You cant bring that shane back. You guys are not factoring in the 1 year & 6 month layoff & the fact that he's gonna be 39 years old in 4 months.

This could be the fight that shane becomes old overnight. Floyd is gonna be on his feet the entire time & mosley will just be befuddled. Its gonna be another potshot fest going to the scorecards.

Just remember where you heard it first.

Not exactly, After the Hatton fight Pac and Mosley were both free, and thats the fight people were calling for first seeing how Mosley had just destroyed Margarito. Cotto was not free cause he had a fight with Clottey a month later. So they ignored Mosley and waited on Cotto to get past Clottey.

There some truth in this. Im a Pac fan, but Pacs team were not willing to fight Shane at 147 a year and a half ago. Freddie told him to come down to 140, and when Shane shot back with the fact that they fought Oscar at 147, Freddie said he was a lot better than Oscar. The interview with Freddie is on youtube.

Dont be surprised to see floyd dominate shane not because he's sooo great but because of the circumstances surrounding shane.

I think shane did himself a disservice for sticking around with papa mosley for the majority of his physical prime. he absolutely did not progress as a fighter under his pops.
I think Mosley did himself a disservice by being so inactive since the Margarito fight. He expected to get the big fights and it didn't come until the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight fell apart. He should've been more active.

Mosley's up there in age, he's been surprising me though with his performances. I expected the Collazo fight to be more competitive, Cotto to win more clearly, and Margarito to beat him. I thought he would've shown more signs of age and decline than he has. While he is definitely past his peak, he's doing much better at his age than I thought and is still a top fighter.

I've consistently underestimated Mosley (and Pacquiao for that matter). I'm going to try to stop doing so now.

Mosley is old and inactive. You can spin that anyway you want, but it is still a fact. I expect Floyd to win handily.

I dont. floyd will run & potshot & win a boring unanimous decision.
