Have Europeans got better or have American's got worse..........

Have Europeans got better or have American's got worse, its probably a bit of both but which are your leaning more towards?

I would says its 60/40 that American's have got worse, i fear we may never see fighters of the caliber of Mayweather, Jones, Hopkins, Whitaker, Mosley, DLH, Holyfield etc again, not unless American's start to take a real interest in the sport again, lets be honest most elite fighters have come from America.

I dont see a single fighter out that i look at their skillset and say" yep that guy could do what Holyfield did and win a world title against someone as tough as Qawi after how many fights", i always thought Mayweather could of won a title after 10 fights or less, that is/was the level of their talent, even when starting out as pro's, i dont see any fighters with that capability.

British fighters seem to be getting a little better technically and there seems to be a lot more good prospect than usual, Eastern Euro's seems to be turning out some decent fighters to with the likes of AA, Vic etc...

I tend to agree that at the moment I don't see no Mayweather Jr or Roy Jones talent around.

      But lets wait and see......

Boxing is a poor man's sport. Most great boxers came from poverty and fought to put food on the table. Americans have become fat and lazy. This recession might do us some good. Maybe we will turn out less fat kids.

Eastern Europeans have only been allowed to turn pro, for what 20 years now? It takes time, why would anyone get their brains beat in if they can't make any money from it eventually.

Plus most athletes only box if they can't make it in Basketball, Football, or Baseball these days in the States.

It's both, but Americans getting worse is paramount.

Considering it's history, the current state of American heavyweight boxing in particular is actually shocking, Chris Areolla is the best they have, unthinkable 20 years ago.

American Boxing won't get better until it has 1 governing body like the NBA, NFL, or MLB. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Every state commission has a different set of rules and fees. Too many belts and not enough mainstream media exposure. I watch ESPN SportsCenter everyday and boxing is almost never on. Boxing needs to have something going on every week so that it becomes a normal part of American life again.
