Boxers are specialized technicians in stand up while mma fighters are a jack of all trades, but they do specialize in either bjj or wrestling, etc.

Both are exciting. Instead of comparing apples and oranges lik lil bishes, just enjoy both.

I like boxing more, but I know damn well an elite mma fighter would destroy an elite boxer in a street fight. And if you think otherwise id like to know why. You think a ref is gonna come in and break up a clinch? Lol.

Ugh. Where to start. Street fights don't happen on soft surfaces with tons of space and no other participants. Get real.

        uhhh exactly...
one take down on concrete will probably REALLY hurt the boxer right away.
no space means more grabbing and clinching, not a lot of striking.
other participants?? that doesn't help the boxer either and the hypothetical situation is a one on one fight which happens all the time in real life.

i do believe boxing is the best striking technique you can have in mma, and it's really becoming more evident as mma fighters are improving their boxing.. ie bj penn, anderson sylva, rampage..

enjoy both sports, they really are apples and oranges...

Exactly! but to be fair, if you want to win a fantasy streetfight, say Mike Tyson. no one can top that

You think the MMA fighter will even get the time to get the boxer into a clinch? What if it's in a bar, you think he'll just lie down on the floor? You don't think the boxer would have friends to back him up.. Let's say, stump on the MMA fighters face if he decided to lie down on the floor, perhaps even shank him or bust his knees or anything else? The boxer would hit him standing up and knock him out, end of fight.

I have accepted that boxing and MMA are two different sports. They're apples and oranges. However, one undeniable difference is, you'll never see a thirty year old top athlete transition to boxing and dominate a weight division after a couple fights. Make of that what you want.
