That speech that Ricky and Kostya gave at the end, gained more of my respect for both fighters.

I don't judge Tszyu for quiting... Some of you believe that a fighter should battle himself to the Meldrick Taylor state, I believe that a fighter should be able to call his own fights and there is nothing wrong for walking away when you feel that it's over. Agree / Not?

    >>
Hey, do you want to talk about the Taylor state? Lets talk about the real Taylor state. How did he get that way? He got that way from dominating a fight and then getting stopped in the last round. Something that Tszyu never gave himself a chance to do. JCC didnt quit when he was losing every round and he stopped Taylor in the 12th. Tszyu was also not nearly beat up like Taylor was so dont give me that garbage

It's been confirmed that Johnny Lewis stopped the fight, not Tszyu.

          It was his corner's decision.

This is from a news link>>>

Johnny Lewis had a tear in his eye after putting an end to Kostya Tszyu's world title defence and possibly pulling the curtain on one of boxing's great careers.

Tszyu wanted to come out for the 12th and final round in which he needed to knock out unbeaten English challenger Ricky Hatton to keep his IBF light-welterweight world crown for the 17th time.

But trainer Lewis, who has been with him since he immigrated from Russia and turned pro in Sydney in 1992, kept the 35-year-old on his stool after he took some serious punishment in the 11th.

I hope this is true...I was watching the match in a strip club with no volume so the whole stoppage was rather puzzling...I can't figure out why Tszyu quit though...he only had three minutes to go...he didn;t look all that bad in the 11th round and he didn't look all that bashed up...I always thought Hatton had a good chance of winning and he took Tszyu's punches well...of course the debate for Tszyu boosters will soon be whether Tszyu aged ovenight in this fight and Hatton simply beat a depleated champion...Hatton looked sharp though and will make a great champ...I was really disappointed that Tszyu quit...he still had a puncher's chance, even in the final round, although he didn;t look like he was doing all that much damage with his punches...great fight!!! The debate will be all over the place for this fight but I think Tszyu said it best when he said he simply lost to a better fighter...Hatton was hungry and ready for Tszyu and it really showed...props to Hatton and his whole team for a win over what will be a hall of fame fighter.

I was shocked, but at the same time, Tszyu looked pretty sluggish.

What the hell? People are saying it was okay to quit because his life could have been ruined. WTF? The guy wasn't getting mauled, He still had a punchers chance in the fight. Corrales took 10x more punishment than Tszyu & he didn't quit. It seems like his life isn't ruined. Stop being Tszyu apologists. He quit plain & simple and there is no more of a disgraceful thing in sports than quitting.

What about guys like Chico who went crazy when they stop his fights and says he rather go out on his back and this guy quits? What a pathetic chump

All of you wouldve killed everyone else if they have quit. You guys have killed other fighters and you wouldve called Floyd all kinds of names. Now what do you think on Tszyu?
Nah. If anything, I give him more respect. Zoo did quit, but he never complained about the countless fouls and the incompentency of the ref. Plus he still complemented his opponent who flagrantly fouled him in several occassions throughout the match.

I never really figured out why he quit. Can anybody fill me in on that one?

Please dont go there. Tszyu fights like this every fight. He just got beat at his own game. Tszyu always hits behind the heard, punches in clinches, and punches on breaks. Thats how he wears guys down. Remember Tszyu-Mitchell 1? Tszyu was losing and started throwing him around like a rag doll. Tszyu fans need to stop complaing about the ref becauses Tszyu roughs up guys in every fight and Hatton knew it so he tried to beat him to it

I still have respect for Kostya, but he needs to retire. DLT, stop bashing KT. As much as you would like to believe Hatton is SO GREAT, he beat a old fighter who in hindsight shouldn't have even been in the ring.
