Comments Thread For: Haye Sends a Strong Heavyweight Message With Ruiz Win

Back in November when he traveled to Germany to beat Nikolai Valuev, David Haye attempted to send a message to the heavyweight division. Unfortunately the message sent wasn’t quite as clear as he would have liked. On Saturday, at the MEN Arena in Manchester, he got a second chance to sting Boxing’s most storied division awake. [Click Here To Read More]Yes really. Ruiz took the fight to Haye but was ultimately outclassed. Haye put a beating on a hungry bloke who wanted to win, and hadn't been stopped or seriously hurt in 14 years. Aside from the Klits, nobody is on Haye's level in the HW division.

Chambers - Out of shape and embarrassingly poor against Wladimir Klitschko.
Arreola - Another out of shape Klitschko victim. Was outclassed by Vitali, but showed heart and at least tried to make it a boxing match. Still, he is very one dimentional, and I would fancy Haye to give him a boxing lesson.
Povetkin - In decent shape, but only has one gear. Does everything good, but does nothing great. I would pick the stronger, faster, and more athletic Haye to stop him.
Solis - ? Isn't even worth a mention.
Haye is miles ahead of the rest of the HW division in terms of skill, power, speed, athleticism and raw determination.Damn ruiz came to fight dude I give him alot respect for this cuz he didn't hold and he was putting very very good pressure on haye early on but I knew haye would finally get to him and I think wit the shots behinds the head was cuz ruiz was ducking when haye was throwing those looping overhand rights and it did hit some on the back of the head and some partially on the side of the head I didn't think it was intentional it was just in the heat of the brawl cuz ruiz was hurt...respect for both these guys haye has a very good future ahead of him in the HW division and the real opponents that I think that really stands in his way r the klits bros....You think arreola has a good chance of beating haye, c'mon, I dont see any other legit contenders for the klits throne other than povetkin and haye! and possibly tua in wlads case....you have to ask yourself if haye looked better than most the heavyweights you have been watching and the answer lies within!Comment

just one difference : I knew Ruiz wouldn't hold, because I have read some articles about his training with Diaz, and Diaz just wouldn't let that happen (first time he saw him training under his eyes, Ruiz punched then clinched, and he reportedly said ''What the **** is that?'')Comment

HitmanHattonAY only ever posts one-line cheerleader slogans, he doesn't ever back anything he says with any analysis, so there's no point responding to his posts. Having said that, Haye had to agree to fight Ruiz in order to get a title shot against Valuev, so you can't validly criticise him for fighting Ruiz. And Valuev isn't great but he's far from being a bum - which is why Vitali offered Valuev $2.5 million to fight him.Last edited by Dave Rado; 04-04-2010, 04:17 PM.Comment

Nice quote by Ben Dirs of the BBC:
Let's hope sanity prevails and that Valuev is offered some cash to step aside. Haye has blasted a lungful of air into the sport of boxing, but another match against Valuev would send the heavyweight division farting round the room like a fast-deflating balloon.Comment
