    He's old, at 45 years old he needs all the rest he can get. Every time he faked a foul punch he got access to 5 minutes rest.

Those types of shots affect you differently at that age.
      Maybe he was worried about gassing.

        He's clearly trying to win an Oscar. I predicted a KO by Hopkins expecting him to fight confidently and offensively considering this is not the RJ he fought years ago. Instead, his loss seemed to have stuck with him (possibly a traumatic experience) and fought like an underdog. He was fighting as if he's about to be thrown into a lion's den.
