    Old Opinions From Old Timers!

I was just reading up on some Bert Sugar Q & A on Jones vs Hopkins and I have to say I think these old guys are stuck in the past. Here is some things he had to say...

"Right now, I have Roy at 88 and Bernard at 91...."

"He didn't meet one criterion: You must meet and beat other greats. The thing about his legacy is he has not added to it or subtracted from it in his post Ruiz career. Bernard has added to his. We'll see what happens on Saturday night. Both established themselves on their peak years and that's what I judge on."

" Assuredly, if Bernard is to move up and capture a piece of the heavyweight title, it would elevate him in his stature and my ranking"

This guy is a walking contradiction and Roy hater, how can he have Roy at just 88? and Bernard only 3 places behind him? and then say he judges them on their peak years but if Hopkins beats Haye he moves up? he then goes on to say...

"Roy Jones Jr will never be better than Sugar Ray Robinson, or many of the other fighters that I have above him like Ali, Duran, etc., etc. with the etc. running on for 6 pages, no matter when he retired, no matter what he's done."

No matter what he has done? so no matter how much a fighter achieves nobody is ever going to be greater than SRR?? I mean Roys the greatest athlete the sports ever known and has accomplished pretty much everything in the sport, whats a guy gotta do??

I think all these old timers need to stop nuthugging fighters from their generation and realize todays fighters are just as good, if you don't think Pacman, Mayweather, Jones Jr etc could potentially dominate in any era then you need to get with the times and stop living in the past.

Roy didnt face the best competition when you compare him to other greats. Skill wise Roy is up there with the best of them. But it only matters who you beat.

Duran lol. Duran is an overrated Joke. You should switch him and Roy. Roy in the top 10, Duran at 88.

It`s not exactly a `defamation`` case, but a slander and libel case.

It's funny how Bert Sugar uses the criteria of meeting and beating other greats to downgrade Roy Jones yet always sucks off Jack Dempsey and rated Dempsey #9 all-time.

Bert obviously knows a lot about the sport but some of his statements and lists are rather head-scratching. Especially not ranking Michael Spinks in the top 100.

the man is the walking boxrec but his opinions are old fashioned, why is it these people think todays fighters can never be as great as the oldies?
