      floyd mayweather jr.

jermaine taylor & kelly pavlik' prime lasted what 2-3 years at the most. i dont think either guy reached higher than top 10 p4p. none were decorated as highly as mayweather or thought of as highly as mayweather. jermaine taylor was being groomed by hbo, pavlik by top rank, none were p4p 1# or highly decorated.

mayweather on the other hand along with his fanbase claim they are better anybody that has ever put on gloves. floyd has been named fighter of the year & been in the p4p rankings 1# because he was a brash, loud, american.

HOw can you be as highly thought of by boxing writers & fans when your best wins are diego corrales & oscar de ha hoya?

question was who is the most overrated of the decade? floyd mayweather by a large margin.

kelly pavlik, jermaine taylor & their fans never said they were better than ali, robinson, duran, & leonard when they were undefeated. Floyd & his fans on the other hand are another delusional story.

I guarantee you my life if floyd fought the same guys & had the same resume BUT he was not loud, flashy, & american he would have never been p4p 1#.

Writers & a lot of fans got fooled into overrating him because he kept on yelling about how great he was instead of trying to prove it in the ring.

          Oscar or Pavlik.

I don't think Taylor is overrated. Dude just took on too many good fighter's consecutively. Damn dude, take a break.

Plus all of his problems switching trainers.

When it comes to Floyd Mayweather I'm not a lover or a hater but people shouldnt really call him over-rated when he virtually breezes past everybody he fights and a hell of a lot of boxing commentators, writers and historians say he could possibly have the best technical skills they have ever seen.

Also to some other comments, Id say Jeff Lacy was more over-hyped than over-rated.

But to answer the question I would have to say either Taylor followed by Pavlik from that list. Taylors best wins are against Hopkins, one which was extremely close and the other which he should have lost

Jeff f**king Lacy. How is he not on this list? Once they compared him to Mike Tyson I almost stopped watching boxing...And I don't wanna hear any "Calzaghe ruined him" excuses. That was a post-hand problems Calzaghe. He couldn't ruin a fly. This guy lost every important fight he got into and was battle worn before he could even reach 30 fights...

Mayweather is not overrated at all. He has ATG skills arguably matchable with guys like Sugar Ray, but he lacks in the resume department a bit.

Jermain Taylor wasn't really either. Pavlik ruined him. A prime Taylor would have lasted the distance against Froch, or even beat him up to the point where he wouldn't need to last the distance. I don't know about the Abraham fight though.

If Dawson beats Pascal then he definitely isn't overrated. I'd like to see him against Cloud though.

From this list, I'd pick Antonio Tarver though.

Mayweathers best win to date is not Hatton. You're the only one that thinks that.

Some of my all-time favorites are American, such as Gene Tunney.

And I have an American in my avatar, I'll be rooting for him tomorrow.
You have Ruiz in your avatar because of your dying hate for Haye. It's no secret that you do not like the American fighting style.

Of that list I would say RJJ jr, if people rated him highly. The run to the heavyweight title was impressive but beating Ruiz doesn't blow me away. In the 2000s RJJ is overrated and exposed.

exposed is the wrong word to use. The only living human to have been both Middleweight and Heavyweigh world champion can not be exposed.

wasn't as good as he got older, yeah. Exposed, NO.

Tarver, no doubt. He turned beating a past prime RJ into people thinking he was actually a really good fighter. He was decent, but there's a reason Hopkins smoked him and it took Tarver so long to even get a shot at RJ.
