People in here got Steward all twisted!

Emmanuel Steward will not improve Cotto technically, Steward specializes in agression, he is a trainer that sends you to take your opponent's head right off from the opening bell.

When Oscar De La Hoya was looking for a trainer for his fight with Pac he visited our gym and when we asked him abou ta possible reunion with Steward he said:

"Steward is a nice guy but it won't work, he is too laid back, only trains fighters 4 days a week, even during camp, and says he does this because rest is good for you. Steward sends you to K.O a guy right away and if you don't, he will be fuming. We spent most of the time playing basketball instead of training and my father didn't like that, so we dropped him. Somebody like Juan Diaz would be a perfect fit for Steward, because Juan is super agressive and Steward likes to se that in his fighters."

I think Steward will be Cotto's best trainer ever, but he will not make a dramatic change. Just my honest opinon.

I dunno man, a lot of his guys have great jabs and know how to use it. Cotto has a great jab but stops using it after the first 2-3 rounds.

I think cotto-steward would have been great, a couple years ago. Too late now

the judgement day will take place june 5th, 2010. till then we can speculate all we want.

personally, i think it will help cotto tremendously and we'll see a reborn cotto who'll continue to fight past 2010.

Hard to make a dramatic change in just one camp.

I agree with you guys, but since Cotto already has boxing ability it may somehow play out pretty good huh? I ain't trying to say they wont make a good match, maybe they will but Steward will have to run the show and Cotto better not drop him if he does, since Cotto usually run the show and is surrounded by yes men. I hope Cotto respects Steward enough to listen to him and listen good.

thing is this... i believe all it could take to see some significant improvement in cotto is simply just the right advice and wise words.

in life, at times, that's all you need to see the light at the end of the tunnel and to do things better. i truly believe stewards knowledge will get into cottos head. people like steward who've been in the sport for so long are usually respected and their words have more significance and meaning than if they came from less experience/respected people. i see this as a big learning experience for cotto and something that he'll carry with him for the rest of his career. i see cotto listening and taking stewards words to heart and practice.
