Manny is a teacher of an upright, plant the back foot, use a stiff jab style that works for guys like Taylor Wlad and of course Hearns

Cotto is a front foot, torque with his his left (strong) side for leverage and using a jab for set up type of fighter

I have turned into quite the Cotto fan and I hope he can indeed bounce back but I dont see what Manny brings
I agree with most of what ur saying except the manny aint good for him arguement. I think he is just the typwe of trainer that he needs, manny is a no nonsense kind of guy and that alone could be a major difference in the mental aspect of his game.. if he feels that he has someone setting up a solid gameplan , and not just folding to everything he says that some of the initial confidence cotto once had may show up.

it'll be interesting to see wat manny can do, cuz like u said he's best when working with a rangy fighter like hearns and taylor, both of which were pretty tall. but we'll see i guess.

I know he worked with Chavez and Pryor for a little while, Hamed too but that didn't really go so well

It can only get better from Santiago, that's for sure.

He did nothing for Hamed. Nada. Except maybe in the Ingle fight (I think).

you just answered your own question

even guys like the McCrorys and Paul were still one-two guys

I dont see it. Manny couldn't gain Wlad's respect in the last fight and he has been his trainer for a while whats to say stubborn assed Cotto wont do the same?

if he feels that he has someone setting up a solid gameplan , and not just folding to everything he says that some of the initial confidence cotto once had may show up.
maybe but its a bit of a reach to employ a trainer who really doesn't enhance his style

it'll be interesting to see wat manny can do, cuz like u said he's best when working with a rangy fighter like hearns and taylor, both of which were pretty tall. but we'll see i guess.
yeah we will see but I just wonder if this is a reach and one that could cost Cotto the fight

Cotto is a one handed fighter (left), Stewart teaches all his fighters how to drop that right with authority, that and he will push Cotto during training. Win win situation, I hope Cotto doesn't beat him up like he did Evangelista.
