imo marquez could have been if he just fought and beat morales and barrera at 126 lbs, marquez lack only is the resume but has the skill to be an ATG.

I didn't realize sparked meant fought a draw and took a decision loss while hitting the mat 4 times.

JMM unfortunately never quite hit the ATG level, and it's most likely too late.

Great fighter. bona fide first ballot hall of famer. without a doubt.

I don't have a list, but I don't actually see him as a lock either.

He has never dominated a single division, or officially beaten a single hall of famer in their prime. He only won one lineal title (at Lightweight), and only had two fights at that weight. And as others have said, the Diaz rematch is harming his legacy. Great fighter, great skills, but not an ATG.

If he had tried to really dominate the Lightweight division, rather than just have two fights against one past his prime fighter (Casamayor) and one fairly mediocre one (Diaz), he might just about have made it. But he's shown no interest in fighting Valero or Funeka. And if he wants to fight at Jnr Welterweight, he should be fighting Bradley or Alexander, not Diaz or Hatton.

And as others have said, claiming he should have ATG status because he was a tough opponent for Pac is like claiming Norton should have ATG status because of the trouble he gave Ali. Styles make fights, and he just had a style that Pac struggled with, like Norton did for Ali. But his overall resume isn't even close to being comparable with Pac's overall resume - any more than Norton's resume is close to Ali's.
