Well, i guess it's for tradition, publicity, custom, culture. I'm not sayin get rid of it, just thinkin of bull***** that's all...like the whole Donald Duck not wearing pants theory and how he wraps a towel around his waste when he gets out of the shower.

This is all it is, but if they didn't do them then ppl would complain about them not doing weigh ins for HWs.

Personally I like knowing what they weigh and the weight disparities between fighters in the unlimited class.

They're only relevent for James Toney or Danny Williams fights, as they're the only ones who vary in weight much.

Jokes aside, thread seems a bit silly. You could argue the weights are more relevent than in any other division as there's more variances in what the fighter could weigh. i.e. rather than Cotto being a shocking 1 pound heavier than usual, John Ruiz may come in 20 lbs lighter than usual in a few weeks. Much more relevent and worth seeing/knowing.

weigh ins are good because they let you know how much of a handicap the smaller fighter has

You don't have to weigh 200 to fight at heavyweight. You can fight at heavyweight at 175 if you want to. The 200 pound limit means you can't fight as a cruiserweight over that weight.
