Comments Thread For: Thompson vs Boswell in The Works, Estrada Withdraws

BoxingScene.com was advised that Jason Estrada has withdrawn from his upcoming heavyweight bout with Tony Thompson, scheduled for April 16 in Memphis. The exact reason ifor the withdrawal is unknown at the moment, but I've heard Cedric Boswell is a very storng possibility to take Estrada's place. If a deal with Boswell is not made, I've heard Dominick Guinn is another possible option.

Cedric Boswell and Tony Thompson are the two most underrated and most avoided heavyweights.

This is an interesting heavyweight matchup.

Agree absolutely! It would be a good fight between two very good fighters. Both are extremely underrated, especially Thompson, who gave Wlad his toughest fight since Sam Peter.

right on! Another good matchup on regular cable.any of the 3 would make a good opponent.I'll take guinn & Boswell over estrada though.estrada just does not have enough power to hurt anyone.he's a gatekeeper now...a glorified zuri Lawrence...much better chin than zuri!

Boswell might be underrated but neither fighter is avoided. That's a joke. Thomson stepped up to the plate and got his ass handed to him against Wlad, plain and simple.

Tony Thompson had never been knocked down in a fight before he fought Wlad.

He's not an easy opponent for anyone, and has been avoided by other heavyweights. He put up a much better fight against Wladimir than Austin, Brewster, Byrd and Rahman did, and he has some good wins over Timor Ibragimov and Luan Krasniqi.

Alexander Povetkin avoided Cedric Boswell and instead chose the tomato cans Javier Mora and Leo Nolan.

Is there any footage of Boswell? Although he's old, he appears to be a decent boxer going by his record. His only loss to McCline was a late stoppage in a fight he was winning. What has the guy been doing all these years? It looks like it might be a wasted career.

I just checked out his only fight on youtube - the one against Greenberg. He looks to be in good physical condition and has fast hands. A lot better than most of the heavyweights out there at the moment I'd say. Greenberg hasn't fought since.
