To make it basic, there has to be continuity in the game. If people are being punished in different ways then the whole system loses all credibility and people lose faith in it to server the boxing fans properly not un-properly and unfair.

If mike tyson got fined that much and then some1 who commited a worse crime against the sport then they need to review their system. I think it was spinxjinx who said that there is quite a bit of corruption in boxing and i agree with him.

If u commited a murder and got more years than some1 hu dun the same thing then u would be pissed because of the inequality. It doesnt matter if tyson is a role model. I might think Ruiz is a role model. U cant have a punishment system where opinion is the deciding factor and who they "like" is the one who gets off lightly.

    Quite frankly its bull****.

Everyone says there's a lot of corruption in boxing. It's not just Spinxjinx.

I smoked a joint before the fight, this guy did steroids and they only fined him $10,000? I don't know, maybe it's just me. Imagine if I didn't smoke that joint? I might have lost. I might not have showed up!"

There is NO proof that steroids enhance a fighter......neither his ability & certainly not his punching power.
Vargas was supposedly on roids against Oscar.....& he looked so tight (in a bad way) that his punches had NO SNAP, thus no power.

You put Tyson on roids, & all he'd do is fight even dumber than he already does.
He wouldn't throw more, or better combinations. Instead, he'd take a ton of energy & throw it into those single bombs he PRAYS will land & end the fight. He'd be LESS deadly on roids.

The only thing roids might do is make Tyson so fired up, he wouldn't be looking for a way out of the fight as soon as things stop going his way.

Roid rage would make him angrier, so adrenaline would flow more, and he'd be stronger. Also, when roid rage happens, you don't feel as much pain.

So what if Tyson's "stronger" ? He won't punch any harder....& he'd still be the same one-punch-at-a-time, no-head-movement frontrunner he's been over the last few years.

How come Vargas' punches looked so ****ty against Oscar ?

Here was a natural 154lber, on roids.....getting nothing done against a guy who shoulda never left 147.

High-tech training & supplemental enhancements do NOTHING for BOXERS.

Aside from Gus (or is it Cus?), there was no one who really cared about him. He was a cashcow to King, and King ****d him for his money. That ****** ***** he got charged for **** against was just in it for money: I really don't think he ****d her. He's gotten ****ed by so many people, it's really sad.

Also, to ThaGreatest, when looking at it in terms of roids v weed, yeah 250k is a lot for a drug that doesn't do anything but make the fight harder, but it's not that bad. They could have arrested him, or banned him, or something. If Toney did do roids, and it wasn't a chance combination of things, he should be appealing this case. If he doesn't, then the punishment he got was WAY too light. It's like the **** in baseball, only roids REALLY help in baseball (Bonds, Sosa, McGuire, etc), but that's another discussion.
You mean Cus D'Amato. Yes, he was a good guy and Tyson simply was never the same after he died.

Cus was an interesting guy. A virtual ascetic, he lived in his gym and never married. Boxing was his life. He first became famous I believe bringing Floyd Patterson to the heavyweight crown. Like Tyson Floyd battled mental demons, though in his case it was depression and anxiety problems (well, Tyson probably has those too, but deals with them a lot different than the generally easygoing Floyd). So he was the kind of guy that would understand how to deal with a problem case like Tyson.
