What's up with Gamboa? My thoughts, please offer feedback

I posted this in a different thread which didn't get no love, so I want to discuss Gamboa's recent performance or lack thereof.

For the first 8 rounds I thought Gamboa fought a very technically sound fight, his guard was up, he didn't make any mistakes at all and barely got touched. He was fighting a guy who was 28-0 but very little was known about him and he was playing the part of a counter puncher, so Gamboa, although it wasn't exciting, was very smart not rushing in and letting himself open to be countered. He was winning the fight with ease.

In the 8th round Gamboa knocked him down early and then started to murder him, but towards the end of the round gamboa got caught with a nice shot that rocked him a bit.

The later rounds gamboa seemed sluggish to me, maybe it was fighting in Germany (jet lag?), or maybe like you said he had the flu or something, not sure, but he went back to fighting with his hands down too much and again, he just appeared sluggish. He still won easy but he noticeably looked fatigued.

Overall it was a good win for him against a pretty tough opponent but importantly that's 12 rounds in the bank and that much more experience. But something tells me that was gamboa at 100%.

He looked awful all night long to me, even the rounds he was winning he'd get hit by ****** punches at times. He looked much slower, it looked like Gamboa was fighting having the flu. This Gamboa looked like 10 percent of Gamboa, this version of Gamboa gets brutally KO'd by Lopez. Hopefully Gamboa fixes what ever was wrong with him.

That was not Gamboa to me! I doubt that version shows up against Lopez. But no excuses at all, if Lopez knocks out or beats Gamboa then the better man won... Just not the fight I was rooting for tho...

I think he never recovered from the punch that he got hurt with. He also gassed out.

You have to factor in Barros though. He was game as hell and was a slick counter puncher. Gamboa fought a guy with a weird style he mde Gamboa think alot in this fight.

I like Gamboa but that was a horrible performance. Too much wasted motion, too much posing, very little offense. He didn't look impressive to me at all and I think it was more due to Barros's ability to keep a distance.

Barros just gave a great gameplan for Lopez's people now...
          Not happy...

            People are going overboard.

Gamboa looked like Floyd Mayweather the first 7-8 rounds.

            Yall overreacting.

Would you agree when I said for the first 8 rounds he fought technically sound and didn't make any mistakes?

I felt like he wasn't doing much offense was the fact his opponent was a counter puncher and was clearly waiting for Gamboa to attack, so as a result Gamboa would pick his shots wisely and get out of harms way. Again I thought the first 8 rounds showed great ring IQ by Gamboa. Rounds 9,10,11 & 12 were totally different, so perhaps it was a combination of him getting hit square, and some other factor (not fighting at 100%, etc.).

He didn't look impressive to me at all and I think it was more due to Barros's ability to keep a distance.
Hmm, could be man. Hopefully this is a good learning experience though. It's important for guys to fight different styles and to be tested earlier in their careers, so as long as he learned something from this fight it's a good win imo.

Yep thats what I just posted for the first 7-8 rounds he looked like Floyd Mayweather.

Then he got hit pretty hard, got tired and struggled with Barros weird style.

Hes still a freak of nature in my eyes.
