Double Standard with hitting while an opponent is down.

I've seen many people get away with it IN FRONT of the referee, Pacquiao, Margarito and Mayweather are some of them. If you are going to DQ someone for doing it, then everyone who does it should be DQ'd. Why is it that some people get a pass and other don't though? For the record, I don't agree with it and DO think Abraham should've been DQ'd, I was rooting for him to win. I'm just saying.. you gonna make a big deal of it when someone else does it, it's bull****.

I doubt anyone of those times you have mentioned were as egregious as this......here is my proof........where is yours to show it was ever this blatant and they DIDN'T get dq'd??

Hitting a guy when he's down is a very common foul in boxing. Usually refs don't do anything, or just give a warning. Occasionally they take a point away.

Usually the only time a fighter is DQ'd or it ends in a no-contest is when the guy who gets hit can't or won't go on.

I'm not overly critical of Abraham for what he did. He was frustrated and lost his composure and ****ed up. It happens. Lennox Lewis hit Mike Acey three times when he was down and Acey got up. All Lewis got was a warning. Terry Norris hit Joe Walker when he was down and Walker couldn't continue, so Norris got DQ'd. Norris did it against Leonard and got a warning. He did it to Waters and got a point deducted.

If Dirrell didn't get so ****ed up by that punch (or didn't act, depending on your viewpoint), it would've just been one of many cases where a guy hit a downed opponent and got a warning or point deduction.

Abraham-Dirrell was not that blatant at all compared to numerous examples of this foul. Dirrell just got more ****ed up from this shot than other guys did.

because Dirrell was such a ***** and didn't wanna get up. If he got up there wouldn't have been a DQ but maybe a 2 point deduction. Man Abe would have gone crazy if he had 2 points deducted to him and he knew he was losing. Would have been awesome 6 mins or so. Anyway the right man won so whatever.

Roy jones got disqualified for hitting a fighter that went down because of a punch(Not a slip) and RJJ was undefeated and loved by almost everyone, How is that for your double-standard??

It was a foul either way and the fight could not go on. He was put to sleep and even if you don't think he was he showed signs of being messed up. If that was the effect of the punch that was a devestating blow there was no way he would be allowed to go on anywhere.

It is not that big a deal to me in a sence that the right man won and **** happeans.

The opponents of the other fighters who got away with it didnt flop around on the ground like a fish, they were men and took it like men, not condining it but sometimes late hits and low blows are just part of the game. I saw Bowe walk across the ring and hit someone in the back of the head after the bell had rung, he didnt get DQ'd.
