    Doug Fischer: "Guzman-Funeka should've been declared a NO-CONTEST"

"I had Guzman winning seven rounds to five (or 115-112 because of the knockdown he scored), but I’m convinced that he benefited from not having to make lightweight, so in my mind the fight is a No-Contest. Why should Funeka be penalized for Guzzy’s sloth (or devious machinations)? Joan should be forced to fight Maidana at 140 pounds (or marry Edwin Valero) for the **** he pulled against Funeka."

    No.

They fought and Guzman won with unfair advantages or not.

There's a question weather or not they should have fought at all.

I dunno, I haven't watched the fight yet, but what Guzman pulled was messed up.

I feel bad for Funeka, beat on his birthday, too.

Martinez has had a few unlucky moments as well.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you're gonna go ahead with the fight then you have to honor the outcome. You can't say btw Guzman if you win you get a no contest and if you lose, you get a loss. It doesn't work like that in boxing, or in any other sport for that matter.

IMO, Guzman should not have been allowed to fight Funeka in the first place. The promoters appeased him with television exposure and a payday. The should have found a suitable replacement opponent...

guzman is scum, but funeka shouldnt have fought if he didnt want to lose.....it was always a possiblity that guzman just wanted and advantage because he got his ass kicked last time

They put a lot of time and money in training. Funeka couldve called the fight off but there goes his paycheck. It's still ****ed up on Guzmans part tho. 9 pounds over? MF'er didn't even try to make weight. He showed no respect to his opponent or boxing.
