I can see Khan dropping Maidana but he gets up off the floor . In order to KO Maidana I see Khan having to take big risks and maybe getting KOd himself and I just don't see Roach having that in his fight plan. Roach will want Khan to hit and run for the early rounds trying to cut Maidana up only late in the fight depending on Maidana's stamina would roach risk stepping up the attack.
I definitely see where your coming from in fact I was thinking the same exact thing in my head! It all depends on the difference in speed. Everyone knows khan is much faster but we are not gonna know how much unless they get in the ring together, and it could be so vast that it isn't that much of a risk to khan to actually go for it and back maidana up with long combinations. I do agree though that your scenario is more likely.

How good is he, or how hard does he hits?

How good is he, he's not that good. I thought a green Mermalada hit him way too much and I thought the fight was a little bit close at the time of the stoppage. Maidana was supposed to blow him out of there with more ease. Yes it was a 6th KO, but look at the fight leading up to the KO, Victor was not out of the fight like I thought he would be.

How hard he hits, he obviously hits really hard. His power and heart makes up for his lack of skills and defense. I don't see him beating guys that would give him a lot of movement like Guzman or Malignaggi. Kotelnik already beat him. He has a puncher's chance against Khan. Alexander is good but he's suspect to right hands as we saw Urango tagged him with wide looping right hands before Urango got stopped. I think Alexander beats Maidana anyways. Bradley also beats Maidana, Peterson as well. In a rematch I think Ortiz beats Maidana. Maidana can beat Hatton, Diaz, and I don't know about Campbell. I think Maidana beats everyone else at 140.

But he's a brawling animal with heavy heavy hands. I think he's refusing to take the position of being a stepping stone. So he's gonna fight to the death. He stopped two "up and comers" with KOs...one with a body shot.

Personally, i'm willing to watch his fights. He's aiite, he's aiite. He knocks people out, that's always good.

Mermelada was moving well, he wasn't stationary, and has a pretty ackward style, he's slick but in an unortodox way. I thought Maidana was off balance for most of the time and couldn't really plant his feel well to land his power shots in the begining probably the reason why he KAYO came in by the 6th, plus he was softening up Cayo's body throughout the fight. Maidana is what you see there, a crude power puncher that has a chance to end the fight at anytime or grind it out to the end.

In terms of boxing and technical ability, he's not that good. But who needs to be when you have insane power like he does?

As soon as he meets someone who doesn't stand and trade, he'll get beat badly.

It's like Abraham-Dirrell, Maidana being a LWW version of Abraham.

I haven't seen the fight from the weekend yet, but I dont' believe he has the greatest chin, he is tough and lots of heart. But I think khan's speed and accuracy could get him out of there. Its possible. I think people are underestimating how much taller and longer khan is than maidana. Khan has big physical advantages

sunny31, Khan has much faster hand speed but his body and head movement is not up to his hand speed level and he leaves himself open when throwing flurries. I am certain Maidana's fight plan will be to punch WITH Khan where he will take shots to land shots. Khan can out speed him in short in out bursts where he hits and hops it but if he stays in the pocket and goes for a big flurries I see him coming unstuck. Maidana knows what Khan is about speed alone won't be enough to get past Maidana. Khan needs to improve his head and body movement and infighting skills and not just rely on his speed in order to secure a comfortable win.

People have said Khan won't make that mistake but I don't think people realise fighting him is as easy as they think. Khan is a good boxer but his exceptional hand speed makes him look better than he really is skills wise. When he is throwing his fast fluries he does not cover up well and his head and upper body movement is static and he is not elusive. His inside fighting game is woeful and lacking .But the opponent has to be good to get past the hand speed to exploit his weaknesses and despite being very fast with reasonable pop I don't think Khan has enough to keep Maidana at bay and I see him stalking him down and eventually unloading and taking him out.
The fight either ends with a points win fot Khan or he gets KOd. Maidana is not that good but he keeps on going and hits hard. He has the ability to test a fighter and show the world what they are made of. So far Khan has not had that kind of fight but after he fights Maidana the world would see if he is show pony or real fighter. If Khan were to win the fight it would do wonders for his career but if he were to get KOd again it would be difficult to recover.
My guess is Maidana will never get to fight Khan. GBP and Roach clearly don't want Khan to fight him and if Maidana makes it through the next 2 fights unbeaten I am sure they will find another way out.
I concur. I think Khan's gonna get knocked out. Maidana's hella strong. That is true, Maidana does take boxers out of their game. He gets the better of the exchanges, which is why i think he's succesful. But he's not unorthodox, just a strong brawling puncher. All he's gotta do is boost up his boxing skills and he'll be good.

He's got the tiger in his eyes...i seent it. That pretty much supersedes a lot in boxing.
