I think people like Martinez because he just had two great performances. He was phenomenal against Cintron (which he should of won) and Paul Williams (Fight of the Year candidate, could of gone either way). Pavlik has won his last two fights, but they were both low-key fights. The last thing people remember is Pavlik being dominated by Bernard Hopkins, which was two divisions higher than he is used to fighting. I think this is a great fight, I'm looking forward to it. I like both these fighters a lot. Ya gotta love Pavlik if you're a white American, because he is the best fighter representing us right now.

I'm a white American and I don't care for Pavlik, I don't hate him or anything but I'm not a huge fan of his. And when Martinez gave his impressive slickstyle performance against Williams he earned my sister and her husband as fans. And they don't normally watch boxing fights, but they like Martinez. Martinez is definitely not a white mans name, though he does have skin similar to some whites.

To Martinez's advantage, he only had two weeks to get ready for his first fight at MW vs. Williams. He's had about 6 months now to grow into a middleweight's body and he's had a full training camp.

This is a really great fight IMO. Right on par with all the Super 6 matchups. Let's hope the winner fights Williams.

Martinez has good skills and I like his fights. I think he still gets hit to much in his fight against smaller men and gets hurt a bit. And if Margarito can knock him out Pavlik can. The movement and speed of Martinez could be a problem though. I still think Pavlik wins.

because some uber passionate fanbois said so

most likely the same people who think Williams will deystroy Pavlik and was going to walk through Martinez.

Martinez has a good chance but he is going to have to keep up his movement for all 12 rounds he cannot afford to fade like he did with Williams. Kelly has the power to change the fight at any time but it should be a great match.
