I would love to know why he's just seen as guaranteed to win? I feel like Pavlik should be the favorite. Am I crazy?
Can someone tell me how it's just a given that Martinez beats Pavlik

Kelly is white. The prevailing idea in boxing is that white guys can't deal with boxers, which is what Martinez is.
To me, it's about Kelly's power. Kelly will take Martinez's counters, but Kelly has that innate ability to prevail in a fight.
I think that people forget that Kelly moved up to light heavyweight to fight Hopkins.Comment

I'm pretty sure Kelly is the favorite with Vegas.
On this website it doesn't seem he's the favorite and he's gauranteed to lose.
I can see how people think Martinez is going to win, based on his style, speed and boxing abilities.
However I feel pavlik's power is something that is going to be a big problem for Martinez and Martinez also goes into stretches of time where he doesn't do much, something Kelly can capitalize off. Martinez was knocked down (although off balance) and hurt/rocked several times by williams, and pavlik is much heavier handed than williams.
If kelly is back to his true form, physically healthy and mentally, I think he will win by knockout.
However if kelly hasn't fully recovered physically from whatever problems he was having, and mentally from the hopkins beating, he could very well get out-boxed.
This is a fight I'm not going to bet on though because there are too many uncertainties.Comment

It's 50/50 fight, who ever is at their best will win. Martinez either boxes Pavliks head off and Pavlik misses his punches and hits air. Or Pavlik lands and sends Martinez in a coma.Comment

Martinez is in another class.
Pavlikk doesn't even have a punchers chance.
Martinez is tough as nails.Comment
