He knocks Joe down and while he is down smashes him with a killer left hook!!

Beat me to it, I was just about to mention that lol, the Suzie Q is what did the real damage there though not the punch while he was already down.

What if a punch initially sent Dirrell down? I know it didnt but just for arguments sake lets say it did. If Abraham landed a punch and knocked him down into that position.. (Dirrell didnt slip)

A: Would Abraham have the right to puch him again? And

B: Do you think the referee would have DQ'd Abraham?

Please post sensible comments relating only to this thread. We've worked out who the ***** is and who the ******* is ok.

Great post, This is why i think AA deserve to be disqualified, If the initial slip was actually a punch that made AD go down then AA would have to wait for the ref to count and allow AD to get back up, but he knew AD wasnt KD by a punch saw his opportunity to land on direll and he did for that he deserve to be DQ..This was like the Roy Jones/Montell griffin first fight..

Agreed, the right hand was the more damaging punch for Marciano.

It is arguable though, lets say a jab connected before Dirrel's slip.

The punch would still be illegal. Wheter the ref would DQ him is another matter. I doubt it actually. He might have taken a point away.

Damn it's difficult. Suppose Dirrell beat the count what then??

Lol I don't know what to say if one adds in the fact that Cole is a completely incompetent referee. Then I suppose anything could have happened...

The referee really had NO choice, The decision was made when he saw the way Dirrell was going on or acting! If that was you what would you have done?

I think the DQ was the right decision. When I saw it I definetely thought it was a blatant foul.

I also thought the decision was right, I went with what Carl froch said before the fight which was he hope AA wins but he see Dirrell winning a boring decision or AA by brutal KO, Seems both actually happened last night.

                    1. If I remember correctly Soto was in mid combination when he grazed Lorenzo with his shot, unlike Abraham who loaded up when he saw Dirrell was down with 1 huge bomb.

                    2. Soto's punch barely grazed the back of Lorenzo's head, Lorenzo is the one who deserved an Oscar after that.

I swear one angle shows Dirrell being hit by an Abraham jab just before he went down. I could be mistaken though.
