What If A Punch Initially Sent Dirrell Down..??

Basically what i want to know from you guys is your opinions on this senario:

What if a punch initially sent Dirrell down? I know it didnt but just for arguments sake lets say it did. If Abraham landed a punch and knocked him down into that position.. (Dirrell didnt slip)

A: Would Abraham have the right to puch him again? And

B: Do you think the referee would have DQ'd Abraham?

Please post sensible comments relating only to this thread. We've worked out who the ***** is and who the ******* is ok.

No, he wouldn't have the right to hit him when hes down... nobody does... most guys get a warning for that, hitting somebody when there down is against the rules, whether you knocked them down or not. He would have got DQ'd still because the KO would of came from a punch on the floor.

In hindsight i would agree but in the heat of the moment and the poor performance of the referee it would have been an interesting scenario.

It depends. If AA was throwing a combo it would be difficult for him to stop throwing a punch that would've landed if Dirrell was down. I believe Soto had a similar issue in one of his fights.

See this was my point exactly - Soto was definately not at fault here.

You can't hit a guy when he's down, plain and simple.

Then do you think Soto should have been disqualified?

It don't think it would have mattered that much in that situation, because he waited until Dirrell was on the ground to even wind back for the punch. The ref might have been more lenient though, because it would have been a follow up to the knockdown.

We all know Cortez is an old incompetent fool who should do the boxing world a favour and retire.

Without offering an opinion watch the ending to Rocky Marciano vs Jersey Joe Walcott 1 and wonder if the Rock should have been disqualified.

He knocks Joe down and while he is down smashes him with a killer left hook!!
