I had not really seen much of either Tszyu of Hatton until relatively recently when I downloaded a bunch of thier fights....Hatton's wrok rate is INCREDIBLE..Tszyu has really good power and good voxing skills but I give Hatton a better chance than Taylor has for B-Hop...As long as he can take Tszyu's power or nullify it I think he wins on volume...I don't think that letting it go to the scorecards would be a good idea for Tszyu because he'll probably be outworked most of the fight and it is in Manchester at 2am..which is completely insane by the way...wish I could watch it live..no showtime
and none of the bars are showing it.....

Hi Anorak. I think you mean intangibles. Everything is ponderable. Yes, Hatton beat Phillips, but then Marciano beat Louis and Tyson beat Holmes and Toney dropped Holyfield. When a fighter is spent and keeps stepping through the ropes, inferior fighters will beat him, ask Terry Norris about beating hell out of Ray Leonard. It happens.Originally posted by AnorakIt's the law of unponderables, isn't it? Zoo is widely expected to win, yet Ricky is undefeated. Much of that competition isn't held to be that great, but it does include a win over Vince Phillips, the only man to defeat (and stop) Zoo.
Originally posted by AnorakI don't know enough about Zoo to know what his stamina's like - decent, I take it?
Respectfully, how can you NOT know anything about Tzsyu? He is near the end of his reign, he is the most highly visible 140 pounder in the world and has been well known to the boxing public since his amateur days in the old USSR. He has beaten the top fighters his division had to offer for many years.
Sure he does. Remember the unponderables? He gets tagged by Tzsyu, he's going to have all kinds of "worries." If a relatively unheralded Irishman can drop Hatton with a counter left hook off the ropes, and Tzsyu can nail the ultra-elusive Zab Judah with a crunching right, expect Hatton to be exposed and hurt early in the fight.Originally posted by AnorakOne thing I will say about Ricky is that I've seen him go 12 rounds ****ing solidly with no problems. He might not have had much coming back the other way, but he's got no worries about being able to **** for the distance.
The only true intangible in Hatton's favor is the same intangible he's enjoyed when beating people like Phillips. They get old, and he moves in and beats up on old men. Tzsyu could get old. Roy Jones seemed to get old overnight. Some fighters like Walcott or Hopkins take a long time to fade, some are spent by 26, like Sean O'Grady. This is the only way Hatton wins. Just be glad he's not fighting Floyd Mayweather in Manchester. Mayweather would beat him to a bloody pulp.
Across the pond, it will be, but here in the USA or Down Under it will be another day at the office for Tzsyu. It would be nice if your guy won. Not that I like him any, I like the Thunder From Down Under. But Hatton has fought hard every fight and keeps a tight lip and it's hard not to want him to get a reward for that. Tzsyu has to lose sooner or later, and as you age, the sooner becomes more likely than the later.Originally posted by AnorakBoth are men with two arms, two legs, same as any other... either one could potentially be taken out with one shot. Logic seems to suggest that Zoo might KO Ricky early or around the middle rounds... and that the longer it goes, the more chance Hatton will have. Either way it'll be edge-of-your-seat stuff.
I don't think that's possible with Hatton. He can fight only one way, coming forward. And once the Russian figures out how easily Hatton can be hurt, he'll bomb him hard with shots to the body and then up to the head. It's the standard Tzsyu attack plan, and Hatton should have no answer for it.Originally posted by Anorak...what if it's as boring as ****?Comment

What if... this is really a gross mismatch and Tszyu knocks out hatton early. We don't need a what if for that.. that's actually quite easy to imagine.Comment

You got me there, I did mean intangibles. Late night, but no excuse.
I actually like being pulled up by that, because it's nice to have someone on here who would pick up on it. There are others who would, but, you know...
And yeah, I agree with you - I threw it up for debate, but I don't always believe in triangular logic.
I'd say it's only been the last couple of years where I've REALLY gotten into boxing in a major way, though I'd always followed it casually. Boxing is a minority sport in the UK now (though that looks set to change again in the coming year with more TV companies behind it) and the lower weights never garner much attention.Respectfully, how can you NOT know anything about Tzsyu? As I say, I'm not a massive Hatton fan, but I do seem to remember he boxed a little more in his bout against Tackie. I'll certainly be interested to see what he does on Saturday night.I don't think that's possible with Hatton. He can fight only one way, coming forward.
