Expectations are high for Saturday's fight, and even though I'm not a particular fan of Ricky Boy's, I AM going to snap up the PPV* for this one.
(* To clarify, it's not PPV in the US, but Limeys have to pay £15 to see it...)
It's the law of unponderables, isn't it? Zoo is widely expected to win, yet Ricky is undefeated. Much of that competition isn't held to be that great, but it does include a win over Vince Phillips, the only man to defeat (and stop) Zoo.
I don't know enough about Zoo to know what his stamina's like - decent, I take it? One thing I will say about Ricky is that I've seen him go 12 rounds ****ing solidly with no problems. He might not have had much coming back the other way, but he's got no worries about being able to **** for the distance.
Both are men with two arms, two legs, same as any other... either one could potentially be taken out with one shot. Logic seems to suggest that Zoo might KO Ricky early or around the middle rounds... and that the longer it goes, the more chance Hatton will have. Either way it'll be edge-of-your-seat stuff.
But I had a thought the other day. What if...
... what if it's as boring as ****? What if they somehow nullify each other against all expectation? Hatton not wanting to test Zoo's power too greatly, and Zoo realising that the lay-off and injuries have taken something out of him, so holding back? (Remember how the trade papers said Tito was "better than ever" after Mayorga?) What if they just thrust and parry for 12 rounds for a decision? A win for Zoo that sees Hatton either praised for going the distance and fully accepted into the pantheon, or dismissed by a "Zoo must have lost it"? Or a decision for Ricky that many say was a fix?
What if it's DULL?
