Emanuel Steward: "Wladimir has one of the best Jabs of all time."
Wlad has the best Jab of all time IMO. It's very fast, accurate and powerful. Wlad's Jab is more powerful than most heavyweights power punches.
Vitali has a great Jab too.Last edited by Steelhammer2011; 03-26-2010, 10:29 PM.Comment

Larry Holmes had the best jab in the history of boxing.
These guys control the fight with their jab:
Larry Holmes
Sonny Liston
Muhammad Ali
Greg Page
Bob Foster
Thomas Hearns
Bobby Chaze
Ike Quartey
Wlad Kitschko
Lennox Lewis
I would put Wlad in the top 10 but not top 5.Comment

It's faster, but I don't know about more powerful. Watch Lennox's fight vs Vitali. He was really putting his whole body into that jab, and stopping Vitali dead in his tracks with it. I'd also say Liston's jab was heavier, but in all other ways inferior (hence my earlier post). Wlad's jab, however, seems much more demoralising. He was punching straight through Chambers guard at times, with three, four jabs at a time, each with pinpoint accuracy. That to me is much more discouraging for a fighter than a single solid jab landing in the kisser every now and then. As for best jab of all time, that depends on your criterion. A jab, more than any other punch, can't simply be assessed on its own. It must be looked at in combination with the rest of a fighter's game, since it's a means to an end, not an end itself. Some fighters, like Liston and Mercer, used their heavy jabs to briefly stun their opponents in order to land more powerful punches behind it. Others, like Holmes, used it as a range finder and a distracting tool. Wlad definitely has one of the most versatile jabs I've ever seen, though, in that he can virtually have his way with a fighter after a few rounds. This versatility needs to be taken into account.Comment
