No doubt its dissapointing but what if he genuinely couldnt make the weight? I remember when JLC was missing weight a few years ago and someone wrote an article about what if the guy just couldnt make weight? He's a big guy and has been there a long time. His promoters shouldve never made the fight. I feel the same way about Guzman. 1st off I have always criticized guys like JLC & Chico for staying down in weight so long. They were clearly too big but stayed down for a long amount of time after they shouldve moved up. I think that effects your body and can damage you nearly as much as a brutal beating can.
Then the fools always eventually move up but by then it is too late. The damage is done and alot of them end up being shot. Thats why I think Guzman looked like crap in his last fight. I heard someone say that he's overweight now to try to get out of the fight but lets be real. This was a guy who months ago probably thought he was the best in all of boxing or just 2nd best to Floyd. He dont fear anyone. He just cant make the weight, wether its all on him or he has a bad nutrition and trainer. Thats why I take no credit away from Ali but I think Guzman was a shell of himself last fight and tonight may be the same. Either way even if he does win, I dont think he will last much longer. I think it will be all downhill for him very soon because he stayed down too long. Now he will move up but it will be too late. Why wait until you now have to move up when you couldve done it in a healthy way 2 years ago?
Or maybe he didnt need to move up but just needed a better conditioning coach. Its like Mosley saying for years that he could never go back to WW but now he's there comfortabley. Sometimes you just arent doing things the right way and you need to have the right people around you. Either way, I dont know if its fair to fully put all the blame on him. He may genuinely cant make it anymore but his dumb promoter made the fight and the dumb promoters didnt check in on him enough. What happened to the 30 day weighin stuff? Its a joke for this to happened. Props to Ali for taking the fight after he was already screwed by Nate one time and he knows how JLC stopped Chico
