I haven't fought professionally and I personally would not advise it to anybody. I agree with Chris Eubank in that respect. But some of us are born to fight, born to be winners, and have boxing flowing through our vains... so for us boxing nuts I'm sure that every headache, cut, fracture, bruise, stitch etc is well well worth it because nothing can beat the feeling of winning and the enjoyment of boxing.
I wish I did turn pro, and I was going to before I got put inside. I am absolutely distraught to this day, I was willing to risk my life to get hold of championship belts and fulfill my dreams - and that would of been MY choice.
For those looking to get into boxing or those whose hearts are not fully in boxing, I would advise them not to turn pro though - because if they need advise wether to one day turn pro or not then they are not made for boxing, because you won't need any advise if you are made for boxing, you will go straight ahead and do it.
Here's a nice little quote from Eubank:
"If I was to advertise boxing to people, I would tell them that it forms you into the best shape ever and is the best of confidence builders. I would inform that there are very, very few injuries compared to other sports when you have headgear to protect your heads, facesaver cages to protect your nose, mouthguards to protect your teeth, handwraps to protect your hands, and boxing gloves to protect eachother. It is a sport that develops your hands and feet. What it can do is keep you off the streets, give you a nice hobby, allow you to perform an art in the gymnasium and bring the competitive edge out of you in the amateur tournaments. But there is only pain involved in professional boxing and I wouldn't advise that to anyone."
